I am honestly absolutely stunned. This place is legitimately incredible! Whether you already love Indian or have yet to try it, please, please, please give Buckeye Indian Grill a try. This is hands down the best Indian food I've had in Ohio.
I tried the Chicken Biriyani, Paneer Butter Masala, and Garlic Naan.
The Chicken Biriyani is every bit as intensely flavorful as I always hope for when ordering a biriyani. It actually reminds me a lot of the best biriyanis that I had during a business trip to Hyderabad several years back. The complexity and amount of spice as well as the heat level were absolutely spot on (ordered mild spice level).
The Paneer Butter Masala was equally flavorful and beautifully balanced. It also came with a generous serving of basmati rice.
The Garlic Naan was fresh and perfectly garlicky and made for a perfect complement to the masala.
I ordered online, using their website, which was a smooth and convenient experience. My order was bagged, ready to go, and still piping hot as soon as I arrived at the time specified. The staff was also very friendly! The prices and portions are in line with or even better than most other Indian restaurants in Ohio.
After years of having to go to Columbus for Indian food, it is so exciting to finally have some here in Chillicothe. And not only that, it's better than any place I've tried in Columbus! I'm looking forward to trying everything on their menu and supporting them every...
Read moreI have been waiting for this moment for a true authentic Indian food restaurant to come to Chillicothe. I usually have to go to Columbus, Ohio or Ashland Kentucky to get authentic Indian food. This is absolutely amazing. It taste pretty good, I got the chicken curry plate. They have a decent variety to choose from of popular Indian food selections.
Now my complaints the Naan needs huge improvements, i got 3 naan and they was burnt and where they wrapped it in foil it was soggy by the time i went from the restaurant to my home which is 6 mins down from them. If they would improve the taste and making sure it is not burnt then it would be perfect. The portion size of the meat on the plate/box lunch specials is barely a spoonful and I mean like small spoon portion sized I think the lunch special boxes got to much going on the rice is buried under the salad just throws everything off. A simple more portions of the meat then rice and then the curry veggies is all it needs. Salad definitely needs to go in separate container of its own to prevent wilting. That’s my only complaints. For 3 lunch box specials and a tandoori kabob meat was $70 which is steep...
Read moreBuckeye Indian Grill is just ok. The food tastes well enough, but man is it overpriced. I got an order of Saag Paneer for $19 after fees/taxes which came with some white rice. There were exactly 5 pieces of paneer in the whole thing. For $19, I would expect to receive enough food to have 2 meals. $19 gets me some of the best Indian food in Columbus or Cincinnati and huge portions. This is Chillicothe. We are not rich here. I would eat here again, but very infrequently.
Their online ordering system still does not work nearly a year after opening. And I very much dislike the aggressive pressure to tip them, especially since the food is already so expensive. You are not presented with an option to leave no tip on the payment machine in the store, you have to click through a bunch of section to leave no tip. It seems very greedy to me, and I don't feel appreciated as a customer.
I really just want them to realize that they are in Chillicothe making only ok Indian food. You won't have very many repeat customers at those prices even if the food was top notch. Something has to change or this place won't last long...
