Castaways give off a little bit of a drive bar atmosphere but it is clean and decorated for the beach. There are a number of items hanging in the rafters and on the wall that bring Margaritville to Chillicothe. We tried only the appetizer menu. Our first stop had us ordering a sampler basket with cheesy cauliflower bites, fried green beans, mini tacos, and fried pickle chips. All were good, but the pickle chips were the winner - salty, very lightly breaded, fried, and served with ranch dressing for dipping. We also ordered 1/2 dozen boneless wings with one of their fantastic list of suacues. We choose salted caramel jalapeño - a strange combination that was delicious (I love hot and sweet together). Our second trip we tried PBJ and hot garlic parmesan. Both were very good. The hot garlic parmesan is spicy and tangy. The PBJ was a peanut butter lovers delight - buttery, sweet with peanut pieces. The service was very friendly and fast. Everything was served directly from the kitchen hot and ready. I'd like to try some of their sandwiches, but I can't get past all of the sauce combinations for the wings. We'll return for sure.

I wanted to try this restaurant for their stuffed patty burgers, but it looks like they no longer have that... Which was disappointing. We ended up ordering the Horseshoe with Curly Fries and the Ryan Burger with Beer Battered Fries. From what I hear, the Ryan Burger and Beer Battered Fries were good. However, I was unimpressed with the Horseshoe. The Curly Fries were good, but that was about it. The cheese sauce was cold and bland. I requested Chicken Tenders as a base for the Horseshoe, but the tenders were cold, stale, and hard. Service was decent. They were busy when we came in, but the servers noticed where we took a seat and came to service us fairly quickly. However, once we got our food, they hardly checked in and didn't fill our water until we needed the check. Overall, would not come back unless they bring back the stuffed patty burgers.

I dined In twice and ordered take out once during my latest stay in Chillicothe. Great food for a decent price. During my first dine-in experience, the waitress / bartender was extremely helpful. She gave great tips and answered all our questions about the menu. Food was good and fast to the table. Second time that we dined in we had a large party. We had the same waitress / bartender. She was the only one working the floor. Even though she was alone and busy she kept a very good attitude and sense of humor. I didn't try anything that I didn't like. Their tenderloins are delicious. I definitely recommend their horseshoe as well. Luckily when I visit from Colorado I have a few go to spots in Chillicothe. Castaways will always be one of them.

"If you didn't want to wait that long, you should have just got up and left." This quote from the owner sums up our experience at Castaways. We stopped in for lunch, and I've never had such slow, rude, terrible service in my life. We waited nearly 2 hours for three burgers and a salad. Our server was rude and unwelcoming from the start, and ignored us throughout the wait for our food. No offers for more water, no updates on how things were going. We just sat in the corner while the servers bickered with each other in the back and bussers ran around frantically. The place just felt like a disorganized mess in relation to how many empty tables were in the house. When our orders did finally arrive, they came out with mistakes and were certainly not worth the two hours. Our server continued to ignore us all the way till it was time for the bill. No apology or discount was offered, and we asked to see a manager. The owner returned with our server without introducing herself. Instead she went for the hospitable approach of looming over us while saying nothing. After asking who she was and explaining the wait and the service, she gave us the aforementioned quote and said she didn't know what to tell us. "We've got a full house today, sorry" was her excuse for the wait. The place was not full, but even if it was, you own a business that is not capable of operating at full capacity? I'm baffled. I just don't understand how a place with such horrible service and mediocre food still stays in business. We were ignored, disrespected, and we all payed the price in...
