China Bay Buffet — Restaurant in Chocowinity

I been to China Bay 3 times, today I was in the area for a funeral. The first time was with a group of my fellow correctional retirement monthly luncheon. I couldn't wait to bragg about the place, I even posted about being anxious about coming back. The second time I treated my daughter, grandchildren and two of their friends to lunch, I always ask for water to drink, don't want to fill up on sugary drinks, but I noticed the taller waitress would peep around the corner at our table, I thought maybe she was just checking to see if we needed refills, or to see if plates needed picked up, so I pushed it aside. Today, my third visit...I was again seated in the area of the taller waitress, mind you I tip well, I appreciate the service waiters and waitresses provides, but I watched the waitress peep and leave, I watched both waitress and someone who appeared to be the owner, maybe manager refill other tables drinks and water...and not one time did either of them asked if I needed a refill. I can't say what the problem was, I don't know someone's heart, but I can say...even though the food is worth the drive from New Bern, I shouldn't have to travel as far for someone to show me "I'm not welcome, but your money is..". Didn't even have enough respect to bring me my bill and cookie, the cashier tried giving me a cookie at the counter. I left no tip this time. And I will say this, if you are someone of the African Decent as I, and you've experienced this kind of service...Keep Your Money, I will..We deserve to be...

So my wife made a post about how often we eat at this restaurant, and how they didn’t honor our buffet card. They responded and said we have had these problems in the past, but we are not obligated to run these coupons. No YOU'RE NOT OBLIGATED TO RUN THE COUPONS, BUT IF YOU DO THE PROGRAM, YOU'RE OBLIGATED TO HONOR THEM! Ok you guys acknowledge the issue, but where is the solution? My mother paid $18 for a plate she had free, due to her rewards. The three girls are saying that the signature doesn’t match the man who was not present. How convenient. The food is great but last night really was ridiculous. If y'all can’t recognize your own signature and you CHEAT LOYAL CUSTOMERS OUT OF THEIR FREE MEAL, DONT OFFER IT. I would suggest using a stamp method, that only you have so you don’t accuse people of forging signatures. How do you plan on taking care of us after we give you great business? I have never been disappointed in my many visits to China Bay. They are consistent in the quality of their food and service. The establishment is always clean and their prices are reasonable for all you can eat buffet.

I would like to address the negative remarks left by another contributor, Bryce Esau. His statement the restrooms are single toilets and if occupied one cannot wash your hands is completely untrue. The restrooms are spacious with a toilet stall, a divided urinal, and a separate lavatory. Mr Esau knew this because he has dined at the location previously, as evidenced by his comment they had a price increase. Additionally, I do not know how many people go to restaurants to eat having dirty hands or who could not use the lavatory even if the stall is occupied. It seems unbelievable anyone would walk next door to wash their hands if this is what Mr Esau would have you believe.

Those who wish to leave negative feedback should at least be honest. Restaurants and other businesses often rely upon the reviews of others and dishonest, negative reviews can be detrimental...
