Greetings, Every year we buy our Turkey from Food Lion because they are always around .40 a pound, you have to buy $25 worth of groceries to be eligible. We call it "the turkey hunt" because its always a challenge to find one over twenty pounds. Well we went to the east side washington store and when we asked we were told, go look in the freezer, (yourself) that is all we have when we asked for one 20 lbs or more, west side of Washington store was nicer, but they didn't have one, but walking into the Chocowinitty store a Pretty young lady who was pushing carts back in, Ashley Perkins told us where to look, in the cooler were only three, all less than 16 lbs. Well while walking out, thinking we were going to Pitt County to search, Mrs Ashley Perkins asked if we found what we were looking for? We told her no. She immediately stopped what she was doing, got on her "communicator" to the back and tolld us to come back in the store. Upon arriving with her to the back, another Pretty young lady with a crew cut, Shaun had us a 19 lb turkey waiting. While we were telling another customer about the great deal Shaun came back and asked if we would rather have a larger one, she had found us one 20.86 lbs. Ashley Perkins and her friend Shaun had saved us riding to Pitt county, we got our Turkey the size we wanted and they got Food Lion the sale and a super happy customer! Outstanding employees, clean, courteous and really nice...
Read moreI haven shopped at this store for the past 7 years now but yesterday was a horrible experience!!! There was only one register open...I chose to ring up my own groceries since there was a line there...As soon as I walked up to the register an employee who was just walking walked over and started walking around the register in circles like a vulture! After circling me 4 times I asked her if she wanted to ring up my groceries...I told her she made me feel like I was going to steal something! She said it was her job to circle the people ringing up their own groceries.I told her it didn't make their "loyal" customers feel very good!! Then...ringing up my groceries (being circled the whole time)...as soon as I paid with my card the register went out! They said they had to reboot it and it did not receive my payment! I had to pay again! While I waited apx 15 minutes for the register to come back up....I checked my bank account and the payment was already taken out!!!!! 🤔🤔 I told them I was not paying again!!! It had already been deducted from my account!!!! They finally went back in their office and came back out and said..oh yea...it came out.. here's your receipt! They were very rude!!!! No apology for what I went thru!!! What has happened to my hometown Food Lion!!!!! So disappointed in this place yesterday!!!!! Horrible experience and rude employees!!!...
Read moreThese people, who work very hard for a living and are sometimes harassed by the customers but never ever quit, they are very helpful. They are kind the the people. The Deli they are always there to help you - you never have to wait in long line. I hate Walmart, you have to wait forever. You do not have to bag your own food such as in other chains, and they are always there ready to help you load your car if needed - at times I do need it being, handicapped. They are great people. The only Negative is it needs better produce department, they are lacking in product selection. But as again I am from New York and Pennsylvania where produce is quite abundant. This is a small city and I always say this town is food void. On a side note I do not know anyone who works there and of course I don't work there nor do any family members so this is just the heartfelt comment. Good...
