Khanya Ramen And Sushi — Restaurant in Chula Vista

First time here and we won’t be returning! Came here on a Sunday night with my husband for dinner and did not have a good experience. We ordered an appetizer (stuffed jalapeños) and 1 order of pork ramen and 1 order of chicken ramen. 10 min after ordering the waiter comes and asks if I was ok with pork because they didn’t have any chicken. In my head I was thinking um no, the reason I decided to check out this place was because I saw that they had chicken ramen on their menu. 20-25 min after ordering he brings out the ramen. I’m like where is the appetizer? He’s like “oh I put in in the computer but they haven’t put it out yet.” As a server it’s his job to keep track of orders and know that appetizers come out first, he should be communicating with the kitchen staff. I’ve personally worked in the food industry. This is not an excuse. My husband then told him to forget the appetizer since our meal was already here. I should’ve just told him to give me veggie ramen since they didn’t have chicken I didn’t like the pork at all. Once we got our food he disappeared in the back and never came to check up on us. I wanted sriracha sauce but he was no where to be found while we ate our meal. I also noticed the guy working in the kitchen was too busy watching Thor on the big TV screen. Maybe that’s why our appetizer wasn’t ready in time. Our waiter never apologized or offered us any type of compensation. The young kids that work here don’t know if they’re out of a certain type of food, they don’t communicate with the kitchen staff, they don’t know that appetizers come out first, disappear in the back and don’t check up on you while you eat your meal but they do know how to quickly come to your service when you ask for the check. Don't know how this place is even in business. Always check the reviews first! The service, regardless of being understaffed was horrible. 2 servers and maybe 4 chefs in the back on a not so busy night.

We sat down and waited maybe 20 minutes to have our order taken. Ramen and sushi came maybe 10 minutes later. Great, that didn't take long. With only a single pair of chopsticks, they expected us to eat with our hands. At this point, we STILL have not been asked what we want to drink. Decided to try the khanyan fries. Welp, now that it came out, lets just say, this is not meant to be eaten with chopsticks. My wife had to get up and go ask for utensils. This place also has a B. That says a lot about management.

For those giving 5 star and saying its the best. You are either fake reviews or obviously have not been to other ramen spots. The food is bland and the menu is weak. This place needs a lot of help or needs to...

Over priced, no flavor butchered sushi

If you want trendy looking atmosphere with loud music that is streamed over spotty internet (buffers) this is your place!

Back to the food…

Only thing truly not out of place taste wise is the California Roll… it’s hard to mess these up, and are rather consistent across the states.

Fire Roll… overly drenched with sauces; you know why places drench food with a topical? The dish sucks, so needs to be drenched to hide its inadequacies… whole chunks of Jalapeño; imagine cutting one up, length wise then in half… that’s how they do it, lazy.

Ramen isn’t ramen, it’s as if they just use some run of the mill base stock, not even remotely Japanese, noodles are over cooked spaghetti.

Alejandro was a champ though, not overly on us asking if we needed anything, right amount of service for the subpar food.
