I visited Yoshinoya at the Chula Vista location on May 13 at approximately 9:20 PM to order dinner. My order was simple: 1 XL Combo with double chicken teriyaki, 1 regular combo with double chicken teriyaki, 8 fried shrimp, and a fountain drink.
After placing my order in-store, I initially planned to dine in, but my girlfriend suggested we take it home since the dining area was about to close. We left around 9:38 PM and arrived home at 9:58 PM. To our disappointment, upon opening our meals, we found two regular gyudon combos, completely different from what we ordered.
I immediately called Yoshinoya to report the mistake. The employee on the phone checked their logs, confirmed exactly what I ordered, and still insisted she had provided the correct meals. Despite my request to log the issue so I could return later for the correct order due to the inconvenience of driving back immediately, she refused, stating I must return immediately for an exchange.
Frustrated and hungry, we drove back to Yoshinoya, arriving at around 10:20 PM. By this time, the dining area was closed, and the drive-thru was occupied, leaving us no option but to knock on the locked door. The same younger employee who initially made the error opened the door, took our untouched incorrect order, and left us waiting outside.
Upon verifying the order, she realized her mistake, even glancing back at us apologetically. Despite confirming her error, they did not allow us inside, nor did the manager who had doubted our claim even speak to us directly. The younger employee admitted they had thought we were lying, making us feel disrespected and undervalued.
To further compound the inconvenience, once we received our corrected order, we discovered they had forgotten to include condiments. This forced us to knock on their locked door yet again, adding further embarrassment and frustration to an already poor experience.
This unfortunate series of mistakes turned a simple dinner pickup into an hour-long, frustrating ordeal, leaving us hungry and deeply dissatisfied. The lack of customer care, accountability, and basic courtesy from this Yoshinoya location is unacceptable.
I strongly urge corporate management to address these customer service issues promptly to prevent further negative experiences for...
Read moreI’ve been a Yoshinoya fan since the 1980’s when I was in college. This particular location is the only one near me and has been fine for the past 10 years.
I went to the drive through last week and sat at the speaker menu for 10 minutes before a guy asked for my order. I got halfway into it and he says “hold a sec” another 10 minutes go by and a woman gets on and say “be with you in a second”. Another 10 minutes passes and the original guy comes back on and takes my order. There were only 2 cars ahead of me when I got in the drive through. If there wasn’t a car behind me i would have escaped.
I finally get to the window and the woman hands me a bag, I ask for the drink and she says I didn’t order one. I ask for the Gyoza and was told the same. Instead of blowing up at her I asked if everything was OK? She said people were missing and they were struggling.
I really like the food but I’ll never get this 35-40 minutes of my life back. Maybe in a few months I’ll try again. Based on recent reviews I see this is a trend though.
UPDATE: Their generic response is a big nothing burger. A generic "Were looking forward to hearing from you".
I already have been heard. Maybe it's time for an actual person to reply with the Company perspective (i.e. We were understaffed...we had to fire an employee etc...we don't care what...
Read moreThis is the 3rd time out of the last 3 times I have been to this location where they have both screwed up my order, the service has been sub-par, and the food mediocre at best. I ordered online this time, got the confirmation and it said the food would be ready at 8:55pm. I got to the restaurant at 9:05, and not only was the food not ready, they didn't even have my order. The employee said very little as I showed him my confirmation on my phone. He didn't apologize or offer anything for the inconvenience, but tried to memorize my order and relay it to the kitchen, which he obviously didn't do too well on because I ordered brown rice and got white, which was all mushy. I also added spring rolls, which were crispy on the outside, but also just a mushy, tasteless mess inside. The overall attitude of the employees and quality of food and service really is poor here. and the last time this happened I made a review and was contacted by corporate and offered "free food". I had hoped they would also make improvements, but apparently nothing has changed. I seriously recommend staying as far away from this place as possible, and I will not be going back even if offered free food again.
This is just unacceptable and clearly the owner...
