I will absolutely be back in the future, but unfortunately I can't rate it super highly based on its current state. For context, we went as a party of 4 explicitly to spend the evening playing games (spent about 3 hours there). Overall it's a cool place and I hope it succeeds.
Let's start with the good things! Extremely friendly and helpful staff. 10/10 service from everyone.
Great selection of games, with a wide variety of types/genres (good mixture of casual and heavy games, etc.).
Food was solid and reasonably-ish priced for 2024. Nothing to write home about, but just good. The quesadilla was my favorite (add some tortilla chips and it's basically an entrée).
Now, the bad/needs improvement: Coasters. Ya'll need coasters for every drink at every table, because even the plastic cups sweat and make it difficult to keep the table clean for games.
It was extremely loud when we visited: the kind of loud where you can't hear the person sitting across from you. Granted the place was pretty full, but it seems like more of an acoustical problem with their space. Even towards the end of the night as the place began to empty out it was still noisy and difficult to hear (I'd guess it's the wide open uninsulated ceiling + large windows).
While the food and service were good, the actual dining experience was poor/inconsistent given the price. Like our flatbread was delivered on a really nice stone/wood cutting board, but our pretzels were delivered a cheap food service basket. We ordered appetizers to shared, but they were delivered without appetizer plates. When we asked they said they simply didn't have any. My burger and salad were served on a nice plate/bowl, but I was given a value pack fork/knife/napkin set as utensils. If I'm paying $17 for a burger and side salad, I want a real fork and a...
Read moreA great College Hill and Cincinnati addition! My husband and I are College Hill residents and were looking forward to this business opening. It was worth the wait! Many types of games are available as well as a good number to select from. Atmosphere is bright, welcoming with lots of windows to watch the ongoings outside. It is a retro vibe with good alcoholic drinks from beer to cocktails and basic bar food. It is a plus to have a baskets of fresh fries to snack on while playing a game. People of all ages seem to frequent the place as it is family friendly, has a good bar, and just is a fun place to hang. If you are looking for something different or a new family outing to add to your calendar, I recommend Free Parking in College Hill. We went last night, and there was a waiting list to be seated, which worked out perfectly as we just walked a block down the street and got appetizers at another local restaurant. Parking is easy and plentiful behind the building or on the street (paid). ...
Read moreThis was our first visit to Free Parking and we had so much fun! We’re big game board people and have been so excited to check it out. The food was so good and so filling, the cocktails were delicious too! We wished there had been some snacks (not just appetizers) like popcorn or chips and dip. Overall we had a great night and the staff was so friendly and welcoming. However, we were there for 3-4 hours and were only checked on 4 or 5 times. We had to flag our server down most of the time or we had to go to the bar to get refills/ order a drink since we couldn’t find a server. At one point everyone except the bartender, disappeared for 20 minutes at least. We had to ask for our checks and it still took 20-30 minutes to check out. To get our checks the workers, were yelling back and forth about what was needed and that we were ready to leave. We do plan to come back because we loved it and we know it’s just getting started. This is a great addition to College...
