Island Frydays — Restaurant in Cincinnati

I was in town for work. So I'm unfamiliar with how their menu works. Phone lines were busy so we had to walk in to put in our order. The young lady at the counter with the short Afro puff was unprofessional. I initially got their at 4:15p. This business does not serve oxtails & goat meat until 4:30pm. I decided to wait just to get back in line and watch this young unprofessional take orders on the side of the restaurant when I was standing in line. They have a menu setup like McDonald's. None of this information is on their website. But but what you see is not what you get. Rice is considered a side order. No small plates. You cant double up on sides. You can't get Rasta pasta as a side item. Mind you this is listed as a side with no restrictions. She even made a big deal about wanting to pay additional for side orders. She made it seem like we couldn't get extra sides. I had to tell her "I'm paying for the extra sides. I'm assuming this is a family owned business after letting other people, who were not in line order their food before me. I didn't complain because I felt like it would be pointless asking for management. At this point I just wanted this person to take my order. I put in my large order To take away to the hotel for my friends and I. And she purposely messed up my order. Like I purposely said everything slowly so sh wouldn't f-up. I didn't throw a fit because I knew I wasn't coming back. Like how hard is it to type 3 orders of oxtails with rice and greens?

Rating is strictly on the service or lack there of. Visited today for the first time after hearing about it for months. When me and my mom walked up, there was a lady and her daughter trying to figure out how to get in. Door was locked and no one appeared to be at the window. A lady got out of a car and said "She in there. I tell her all the time stop sitting off so people can see her." While looking at the glass where you order, I noticed a sign that said Goat and Oxtails Friday all day and after 4:30 on Saturdays. Well that messed up our visit because we both wanted oxtails. Totally don't understand if you open at 11 why you don't start selling oxtails then. And the last thing is you could barely hear the woman in the restaurant speak because there was such a long line of people trying to get into Top Cats next door. Not happy with the service. I just think based on the location, lack of parking, and how busy Clifton can be, the availability of certain foods should be better. Coming to Clifton after 4:30 to try to find parking is...

Ohmigosh. We ordered Island Frydays takeaway. It was so amazing. It's like having our very own Scotchies right around the corner from us. Absolutely brilliant. We ordered way too much food but there were so many items we wanted to try. We ordered the boneless jerk chicken with yellow rice and coco bread. The chicken was so tender and had such an amazing jerk flavor but not too spicy. It was perfect. We ordered the beef pattie melt. It was like a beef empanada covered in cheese but different. Still very delicious. We ordered the jerk chicken cheese fries. Amazing. They were the first item to disappear. Did I say they were amazing? And we got the jerk chicken wrap for later. I imagine it's incredible as well. I think we just found a new favorite restaurant to add to our rotation. Island Frydays is incredible! We can't wait to order more jerk...
