I have ordered both a chile Colorado and chile verde in a burrito from Felipe's for decades. The reason I mentioned it is that I saw other people in restaurant had ordered it and thought I'd change up my usual order of the colorado or verde open face with rice and beans. The man who took our order told he me couldn't possibly put chili verde into a burrito and he had this strange behavior that taking my family's order was the biggest burden on him since the housing market crash. He never once looked any of us in the eye and after pointing out that I'd eat whatever the customer behind us is having who proceeded to turn around in the booth and say "yeah, it's a chili colorado and chili verde burrito, I just ordered it clearly so I really don't understand why it would be an issue now." For the man to only keep staring at his pad of paper and firmly saying "we'll we just don't do that anymore" which got quite a reaction from the booth behind me. The man who took my order has probably worked at the restaurant since it opened and he used to be this extremely nice and jolly on top of recognizing all his regular customer's on first name basis. After moving back home and eating here twice, I've had the absolute worst experience and will go out of my way to avoid this restaurant until things turn around. If you think this is a joke then I will remind you that I remember when this restaurant was expanding and put a restaurant in the Bay Area which ended up causing a family conflict because the quality was so far from what people expected. On top of that, as much as I dislike what the place has become, no one else in this country can make chile verde or colorado like this restaurant. Just get the guy some help and give him a much needed vacation. My family and I were shocked at how much he had changed and how openly rude he acted to a basic request such as slapping verde into a tortilla with cheese. I did not realize requests are decided on a whim at this restaurant now. Or maybe it was the fact the family behind us was Mexican and my family is white. The woman who ordered and was eating what I had asked for seemed to think so and was nice enough to even get up and offer me one of her burritos. The man is going to drive off more customers the longer you refuse to acknowledge you have a cancerous employee within your ranks who seems like the manager mind you, which will trickle down sooner than later. I could care less about the racism, karma works wonders on a racist person's life and its not worth getting mad about it because all it does is give more power to men like him.
Best of luck to ya, you'll need it with that guy running the show.
Felipe’s: We only serve things on the menu if we feel like it. You wonder why all your og customers go to Lorenzo’s now. You can’t up your prices and shrink your portions then go on like no one will notice. For the same price here, you’d be better off at Lorenzo’s. They do everything the same but leaps and bounds better and without the strange treatment because you don’t have the same skin color as the employees. I plan on throwing a party when you finally go out of business. Keep on alienating life long customers. All your 1-2 start reviews say nearly the exact same thing as I have. Karma is fickle and she was always collects her due.
Wow now you’re actually posting fake reviews? Going from 3.5 stars to 4.5 stars within a few minutes? You can’t fake your crappy food. That’s the truth. All these 5 star reviews with no responses at all are clearly your attempt to hide your fall from grace. The locals all know to avoid this place from now on. Good luck surviving on weekend warriors. Lord knows you’ll get no...
Read moreI was born and raised in El Paso Texas raised inJuarez chuh mex. So when I say eat Mexican food I hold that to a really high standard we cook differently out in the in Texas we use more of a desert feel like I don't know how to explain it but this restaurant captured the essence of my childhood. If someone had to say where you can get authentic Mexican food I would safely face everything else is a peninsula or like from the from the region of the water this is like the closest to real Mexican food I've ever had. Post office impeccable they really know how to treat a customer at first you would look at it and think another taco truck or taco stand no no no this is a full service restaurant I totally recommend this I give her 20 thumbs up I would take it your family and go out to dinner and enjoy it you're not going to find another restaurant like it and all the Sacramento. Of course if you think Taco Bell's Mexican food don't bother coming here you'll just clog up the lines.. gem of a restaurant is off of Auburn boulevard right when you exit the freeway it's going to be like the second shopping center on the right right next to Dollar General I really highly suggest you come here support a local business and . When you do make your way down here make sure you ask for Bryan with a Y.Hes an impeccable host, he really knows his business he knows the food and he knows the region of the food which is really impressive cuz most people don't even take the time to know that so that should tell you a lot about the staff here they know what they're talking about they know what they're serving so that means it's good for you once again I'm going to tell you all bring your families come down here it's hot outside I'm very nice taco salad I had the flowers personally and they are amazing so can't wait to see...
Read moreTldr: its decent but don't expect it to be your favorite place.
So first time coming here, seems like a hole in the wall (right next to a biker bar yeeks!) Seated promptly but the place is pretty small no way they could host a large party. Ordered the chicken soup hoping it might harken back to the chicken and rice soup from my home town childhood Mexican restaurant. Also got carnitas because thats what i base all Mexican restaurants on. Chips were warm, not salted but thats ok. Salsa was a bit watery with lack of flavor but good amount of kick. The hosts were quick but the server was very short with us. Not very friendly. Soup came out about 2 minutes before the main dish which isn't exactly great timing. To start with the soup had too much celery. Way too much. Over powered the rest. But the meat was nice big chunks and tender juicy and flavorful. Now the carnitas. Meat had great flavor! But was pretty dry. Idk if it was just sitting too long or cooked too long but it made it hard to eat a large piece. Beans were flavorless and rice needed a bit more seasoning too. Wasn't a bad meal but could have been better. Server did offer us boxes and bagged for us so i...
