Was looking for a late-night Chinese food spot and this came up with solid reviews. The first night we showed up they were closed. The signage for their hours were contradictory. The second attempt when they were open was not a good experience. They had curtains covering every single window and a million security cameras everywhere. Very dimly lit. They also made us pay upfront before they sat us down, which was awkward. It seems as though they had one too many bad experiences with customers and are now untrusting of every customer. The energy there was pretty uncomfortable. The girl working the front was unhappy, unfriendly, and playing on her phone the entire time. Our meals were served in Styrofoam to-go boxes for some weird reason. We were not given utensils or water- nor were we asked how things were or anything. The girl just sat there and played on her phone. They had a card table set up on the opposite side of the restaurant with luke-warm pitcher water and some mystery juice that we had to walk up and get ourselves along with silverware and napkins. Super weird. The food was overcooked and had an odd and unpleasant taste. We got the sweet and sour chicken and orange chicken along with chow mein. Hard to explain, but when I bit into it, it was like mostly filler or bread than it was chicken, and it had a burnt fishy taste to it. We were pretty bummed with the whole experience. I went to wash my hands in the bathroom before we left. The bathroom was gnarly and the floors inside and out were like movie theater sticky. Not really sure how this place is in business. Seems like they're on their last leg there. Also just seems counterintuitive to open a restaurant and have everything blacked out with security cameras in every which direction every couple of feet. Think it may be time to sell and move on to other ventures for their own peace of mind.

Update: they no longer have a fire grilled menu or dim sum options. Their small buffet for $10 a person is still a great deal, my only complaint is the walnut shrimp always seems to be overly crunchy, like over cooked. I really like their mushroom chicken! It's nice when they put chow fun on the buffet too! Resteraunt always appears clean and staff is friendly. IS THIS PLACE FOR REAL!!!!! LOL!!! We ordered the fire grilled teriyaki chicken, Kung pow chicken, sweet and sour pork plus 2 dimsum items through uber eats. We did not receive the sweet and sour pork. We did get reimbursed from uber eats, but Holy teriyaki chicken!! I might eat here everyday.... this fire grilled chicken was soooo good! We will be visiting the resteraunt next time, the kung pow chicken also had a nice fresh pepper taste and all of the veggies tasted fresh, sesame balls, sooooooo goood!!! I literally can't wait to eat here again!!!! Picture of Kung pow chicken AFTER 2 SERVINGS HAVE BEEN TAKEN FROM IT. Zucchini was fresh and not over cooked!

This review is based on the newly established and serving only “Halal” items. This place been here for a long time but just recently switch to halal only. So I Visited the new New Shanghai Halal Chinese Restaurant, and it’s a fantastic addition to the town! The food was absolutely delicious—packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. The sweet and sour chicken and stir-fried noodles were standout dishes. They also offer amazing family meal options for just $50, which include a soup, an entrée, and two main dishes. The quantity of food served was very generous, perfect for sharing. The service was excellent—friendly and attentive—and the prices are unbeatable for the quality and portions. Highly recommend this spot for a delicious, affordable, and family-friendly halal Chinese meal. Will definitely be coming back!”

A Prestigious Halal Culinary Experience at New Shanghai Chinese Restaurant

New Shanghai Chinese Restaurant offers an extraordinary dining experience, seamlessly blending authenticity, elegance, and exceptional flavors. As a discerning diner who values both quality and dietary considerations, I was delighted to find that this establishment serves 100% halal cuisine, ensuring a refined and inclusive experience for all.

From the moment I entered, I was captivated by the restaurant’s sophisticated ambiance, warm hospitality, and impeccable attention to detail. Every dish was a testament to culinary excellence, prepared with high-quality ingredients and remarkable craftsmanship.

Chicken Wonton Soup

A masterpiece of flavor and finesse, the Chicken Wonton Soup was an exquisite start to my meal. The broth was crystal clear yet rich with depth, a testament to the slow-simmered perfection that defines authentic Chinese cuisine. The delicate wontons, generously filled with tender halal chicken, were soft and flavorful, melting effortlessly with each bite. This dish exuded both warmth and refinement.

Chicken Potstickers

The Chicken Potstickers were nothing short of extraordinary. Each dumpling was impeccably crafted—lightly crisped to golden perfection on the outside, yet irresistibly tender on the inside. The halal chicken filling was well-seasoned, offering a perfect balance of savory and aromatic flavors. Paired with a delectable dipping sauce, every bite was an explosion of taste, making it an absolute highlight of the evening.

Egg Roll

A true classic executed flawlessly. The Egg Roll boasted a delightfully crispy exterior, giving way to a harmonious blend of fresh vegetables and succulent halal chicken. The flavors were bold yet elegant, showcasing the restaurant’s commitment to authenticity while ensuring a universally enjoyable dish.

New Shanghai Chinese Restaurant stands as a pinnacle of halal fine dining, proving that exceptional Chinese cuisine can be both authentic and inclusive. The service was exemplary—attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely dedicated to providing an unforgettable experience. Whether you are a connoisseur of Chinese cuisine or simply in search of an exceptional halal dining destination, New Shanghai is a culinary gem not to be missed.

I eagerly anticipate my next visit to explore more of their sublime,...

I cannot say enough great things about New Shanghai Chinese! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted warmly and seated promptly. Our waiter, Anyn, provided outstanding service—attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. He made sure our dining experience was seamless, offering great recommendations and checking in without being intrusive.

We decided to try the Family Dinner Special, and wow, what an incredible choice! Each course was better than the last. From the perfectly crispy spring rolls to the rich and flavorful appetizers, everything was fresh and delicious. The main courses were absolutely phenomenal—the Mongolian beef was tender and packed with flavor, the kung pao chicken had just the right balance of heat and crunch, and the chicken fried rice tied everything together perfectly. But the real standout for me was the chow mein—some of the best I’ve ever had! The noodles had that perfect texture, with a savory, well-seasoned sauce that brought everything together beautifully.

I was honestly shocked to see any negative reviews because our experience was flawless. The food quality, service, and portion sizes were all top-notch. Plus, knowing that everything is halal makes this place even more special!

We are already planning our next visit, and I highly recommend New Shanghai Chinese to anyone looking for a delicious and welcoming dining experience. If you go, definitely ask for Anyn—he will take great...
