Sub-par unfortunately and I have many 10+ Indian food places in my travels. this place Curry House had good reviews so I'm surprised but when I finally got my meal told the real story. Ordered a smorgasbord: lamb tika masala (my favorite dish), appetizer veggie sampler, cheese naan, chutney trio. The apps and naan were decent to good, except some food was greasy. Actually that was the primary problem way way too much grease altogether. The rice was cooked well but lacked the seasonings that make it delicious, so rather bland. The main issue I had was the tika masala sauce. Now I know sauces and this made my experience an unenjoyable one where its usually very delightful. Curry House sauce was the right color but the flavor wasn't quite right and the viscosity was unusually slippery. It turns out it was LOADED! With way too much oil. I mean aggressively over oily and mildly seasoned. Its had a slippery taste and feel if that even makes sense bec it didn't to me. But later when I went in for 2nd round at night and warmed it up it all made sense when the tons and tons of oil separated (like 40% disgusting) in the container from the orange mess. That's why it wasn't the rigjt texture or taste. A greasy mess lacking flavor and attention to detail. Curry Leaf in Albany is down the street 5 minutes and puts this place to shame (a small hole in the wall spot shelling out deliciousness) chic tika masala & rice with flare. Buyer beware. Many other good places. This is not it or it was a dismal covid struggle to survive this day. I will try 1 more time as I'd like to be clear if this is a bad day or lacking management opps. I'll adjust if...
Read moreScurry as far away as you can from this so called "Curry House". As I walked in I was greeted by the empty restaurant and the smell of what I can only describe as boiling sewer water. I should have listened to my nose and walked out. Unfortunately I didnt. My meal started with an order of samosas. Crispy on the outside and ICE COLD INSIDE? I spit out my first bite and when I sent it back the server made me feel like I was wrong and that is how samosas are supposed to be prepared. Once again I should have trusted my instincts and scurried for the hills but my brain didn't seem to be working properly that night. Next up, chicken curry. Mystery meat curry was disgusting. It was listed as chicken on the menu, but I'm pretty sure I pulled a tail out of my broth. Thankfully I came to my senses after this and paid my bill as soon as I could and got out of there. I'm pretty sure I'll have Indian food PTSD after this experience and it will be sometime before I crave Indian cuisine again...
Read moreI wouldn’t eat here. I’m annoyed at myself for even purchasing anything from this establishment.
I called and order a mango lassi. Now I’ve had them before so my mouth was already watering for one. I get there… not a customer in sight. Cool… I’m going to be in and out… NERRRRPPP…
I waited 5 minutes. Still not one employee comes up front. Ok… well I called them and told them I’m upfront waiting for the lassi.
A guy comes out pulls the lassi from the fridge and puts in a bag on a table behind me.
Now I’m confused because I’m standing in front of him waiting for him to acknowledge me.
So I asked about the mango lassi and he tells me it’s behind me🤦🏾♀️. Ok. I paid him for the lassi and left
I know this isn’t NYC… and I won’t get the best quality authentic food or drinks but that mango lassi tasted as if it was sitting in the fridge for awhile… it had an awful after taste.
I don’t plan on ever eating anything from here and I don’t suggest...
