A Heavenly Experience at Good Religion
From the moment I stepped into the room where the food from the Caribbean restaurant Good Religion was set up for our women’s retreat, I knew we were in for a treat. The aroma that greeted us was absolutely divine; a rich blend of spices and island flavors that had everyone eagerly anticipating the meal. The steamed cabbage was perfection: tender, well-seasoned, and bursting with fresh, vibrant flavor. The vegan options blew me away the stew peas were hearty, savory, and satisfying, with a depth of flavor that had me savoring every bite. The salmon was cooked to perfection, with a delicate balance of seasoning that complemented its natural richness. The rice and peas were fluffy and fragrant, the perfect base for the flavorful dishes. And oh, the mac and cheese, creamy, cheesy, and downright indulgent! It was comfort food elevated to a new level, with every bite as flavorful as the last. I can’t forget the cornbread, which was wonderfully moist and slightly sweet, melting in my mouth with each bite. The sweet plantains were caramelized to perfection, adding a delightful sweetness to the meal. Every dish was unique yet harmonized beautifully with the others, making for an unforgettable dining experience. Good Religion isn’t just a restaurant, it’s a celebration of flavor and care. I’m already looking forward to my next visit and dreaming about those...
Read moreI had the pleasure of going to this establishment and trying a bit of everything they had to offer. I am a bit of a foodie and love carribean and soul food so I am very fond of these dishes. I have to compare it to some of the best that I have had to really give it a fair score. Overall, the flavor profiles were not as complex as I would have liked. The oxtail and beef patty lacked spice for me. The sticky chicken had good sauce flavoring but the chicken itself was a bit bland and dense. The meats overall could use more cook time as I like my meats very juicy and tender but overall pretty tasty. The cornbread and sweet potato also could have used additional sweetness for my taste. Maybe some honey. But again overall pretty good. Rice was okay and greens were okay. Some smoked meat in the greens would have been good. The pasta was a bit on the sweet side when I was expecting spice. Overall for my taste it was good but not the best I have had for my taste. I would give it a 3.75 out of 5 for food. Service and atmosphere were wonderful. And the cleanliness, which I personally prioritize, was top notch! If you are in the area, I would definitely give this...
Read moreThe food is absolutely delicious. The pricing and business model is absolutely awful.
I can't stand paying for cooked food based on weight because the value proposition is terrible.
Easily spend about $40-$50 for what should be about a $20-$25 meal.
As long as this model remains I cannot recommend this restaurant unless you are ok paying about $40 for rice, some oxtails, some goat curry, 2 wings and a beef patty.
Then to add insult to injury they have a dreaded credit card fee instead of baking it into their pricing.
However with all that said the food is absolutely delicious. It's just priced for fine dining with unfriendly service, and buffet style self serve in a mostly take out setting.
Reply to owner: I understand that your model mirrors that of a grocery store, and I was aware of that in my review. What I’m saying is your model ISNT a grocery store. Your pricing model should mirror that of fast casual restaurants. Grocery stores LOSE money on their hot foods business so they operate with a simple pricing model of food by weight to minimize operating expenses. I can tell you, without a doubt, your pricing model isn’t helping your...
