Visited again today 8/2. Comments at the end. This will be a long review. Yesterday I visited a restaurant that has been around for a long time. [The Fountain] I remember going here 60 years ago. Wow, am I old! Jen was my waitress and she was also the bartender. She was very friendly and helpful. The Fountain is listed as an Italian restaurant and is known for its pizza. There are many other Italian dishes. I have had the pizza and it is very good . But one of my favorites is the burger with a side of tuna and ring mac salad. One of the few places with ring pasta. It is outstanding. I get the burger well done. It was cooked thoroughly but still moist. Just like I remember. VERY GOOD. I usually get a diet and beer and relax while waiting for the food. As I have said in other reviews, a pint is too much for me. The Fountain is one of the few places with a short beer 10oz . Great for me. The Fountain brought back memories from my adolescents. I will visit again. If you are in the area or can take a short drive, it is definitely worth the trip. Visited again yesterday. Met Ginger. She was very friendly and attentive. She waited on us. I enjoyed chatting with her also. My intention was to get a pizza. But I could not help myself in ordering the burger and tuna rings. Again, very good. My wife got a 10" pizza. She had some there and we took the rest with us. I had a small piece to try right out of the over. It was a thinner crust the way I like. It was a cheese and was good. Not exactly the way I remember but I usually got a topping and it was a long time ago. It was good and we both had a nice time and was glad we met Ginger. I will return and will try a pizza with a topping like I intended this time. Like I said before, worth the trip . Today 8/2, I visited and ordered my usual, burger and tuna rings salad, photo, (but already put the other half of the burger away to take). Well done as I like it but still moist . What can I say, was very good. Jen was there working the bar. My waitress was Silva, upbeat and attentive. Very nice. Had my usual diet and short beer, always a plus for me. Savanna brought out my meal. Also upbeat. Enjoyed...
Read moreSo the pizza is a new England style more than a Brooklyn . I asked for crispy but it was still chewy. I feel that three years ago it was a thinner crust or something. The sauce and cheese is amazing still . My take out experience has been interesting but if you go to the bar instead of waiting near the crowded bathroom in the back where the parking and kitchen is ,its way easier. That's a local guide hack for ya. Try not to go on the busy nights. Our waitress actually forgot she took our order. (Asked for it twice as. If she didn't remember we were there already for a half hour or so) We had reservations for a movie at 7 got there at 5:30 with reservations for 5:40 for four. Food didn't hit the table till 6:45. The food was good 👌 not extravagant but tasty and fresh. It's always moving and the recipes are classic. This is one of my favorite places , I'm being hard out of love . To me this place is an institution of a fast fading style. It's very reminiscent of pizzarias in the seventies or eighties. A simpler time feeling. I like to see them keep it going because the food is always good. Here we go ... Ambiance- 4 old school Italian pizzaria Food quality-5 Wine selection and bar- 4 Table service- (usually a solid 4) but for this review a 2 Parking-5 around back and on street Location-4

Read moreWe made a reservation for The Fountain Restaurant on Fri 1/13/23 for 5:30pm.This place is always busy. And has been a neighborhood go to for many years. The Romano family has won their customers' loyalty with great service & consistently good pizza. We were early and there were two seats open at the bar. So the bartender Tony moved our reservation to there. The bar works nicely for us here. Thanks Tony. We ordered a wine ($7) & a local craft beer,Jack's Abbey on draft ($9) while we looked over the menu. The Fountain makes great pizza, but tonight just wasn't a pizza night for us. My bride had a small Caesar salad w/ chicken ($10) right size for her. The large is not an exaggeration. I had the caprese sandwich-Fresh Mozzarella, Tomato, Basil, EVOO & Balsamic Glaze on Ciabatta bread ($11) Note: you can add chicken breast or eggplant for $4. more. Very good sandwich. In my opinion, this sandwich would be even better w/ some pesto spread on the ciabatta. Still a very good dining experience. Hours: Tues-Thurs 11:30AM-10:30PM (Kitchen Closes) Fri-Sat 11:30AM-11PM (Kitchen Closes) Sunday 12:00PM-10PM (Kitchen Closes) Closed Monday Street parking is at a premium but there is public parking behind the restaurant. Thanks again to Tony & all for another great visit. Nick Parisi & Liz...
