Lemme help tell you why this place would make Gordon Ramsay yell.
-Training of staff- I constantly see new staff being hired. It must happen at least once a month. Surely that many people can't be working there? When do the current workers get trained? They don't. Pretty badly, anyway. I go there often enugh and consistently see new faces there, often being yelled at for things they couldn't have possibly been trained well on. I hear them talking how most of them are only getting roughly 4 hours a week too. Benefits too much to pay for ya guys, eh?
-*Staffing complaints/issues- Mainly said everything relevant above, but I've seen staff doing upwards of 3 different positions at once and jumping to and fro. Just make them do one thing, can't you guys schedule? Pay someone else to work, is saving money to pay some other poor kid to be on hand worth the stress? Also, EVERY FRIDAY I see them crowding in there to pick up their checks. Apparently NO ONE gets direct deposit? Where am I supposed to sit? What happened to saving trees and the environment?
-This (and other nearby locations) aren't corporate anymore- Currently run by Cayuga Restaurant Group, LLC. Don't know much about them, but this means that the McDonald's overlords are even further separated from this location. So it's even more up to the local peeps to order items and supplies. This is why when things break, they're broken for even longer, and why they run out of things so often for not ordering enough and being cheap (if not wanting to pay bennies wasn't hint enough. I guess the check issues are moreso Cayugas fault, but still.
-Managers (management & attitude) I see them constantly snippy. Constantly blaming anyone but themselves. There's a couple nice ones, mainly the younger men. Most of them though, you can just tell they're miserable 30-somethings going nowhere in their life though. I see them yelling at their staff (for things that aren't their, if anyone's faults), taking smoke breaks, and goofing off on their phones MID-SHIFT more than anything else. Yet they're the same kind of people I'd expect would fire an employee if they raised their voice or got on their phone. Just because your lives are miserable, don't make the staff miserable? No wonder why your turnover is so high. (A rare few staff seem to be guilty of this too.) I keep trying to talk to my friend when their shift is up too and they keep telling me oh they wanted me to stay longer. Why do you guys never do your schedules right? Hire another person if this keeps happening!!
-Cleanliness Some of this is actually the customers' faults. Like you managed to bring yourselves out, surely you can manage to take 5 steps to the trash can? It only puts more work on the employees. But it's the managers' faults too. Like I'll consistently see you'll have one guy on register or getting fries, then make him clean up after someone, then make him run outside, run to a customer, run back to cleaning... seriously, just hire someone else for the shift. Make them clean, there's always something to clean. Make them leave early if you gotta, then if someone gets hurt or something on the job (seen happen), they're there.
TLDR: Too many staff who are trained too little, too many incompetent managers spreading their misery are running the joint. Bless all of y'all that are working there, get out if you can. And if you're a customer, go to the one on the other end of town, CRG still might be running the joint, but at least it's clean there!
(Also, hi management, I guess you're the guys leaving the obviously fake good...
Read moreUpdate October 2023: The quality of service at both these locations especially on Grant Avenue has dwindled to the point that it warranted an update. I've moved all my ratings down to one star, and based on the service at these stores, It would be justified in Google creating a zero star rating.
In the past 6 months the quality has already dropped to the point McDonald's is well known in this area for taking at least 25 minutes to complete an order, even if you're the second person in line.
Tonight I placed an order on the app, and went in to pick it up. It took 25 minutes from the time the app said it was ready until I actually received it. I was observed by at least three employees but not one of them ever came out to the lobby to know that I had an order. Another cashier who had been off the clock for nearly an hour was still waiting, after three attempts to collect her paycheck. The only reason I received my order was because a manager finally came out, and after reading my app to see what the order number was, manually went back and told them to make the food, which only took 2 minutes to complete. This from a store who's lost 10 employees in the last week alone (per their own staff).
When the employees are as miserable as the customers, the food quality has dropped well below any other standard of food service, and the prices continue to increase... The management of these stores is literally driving it into the ground, and I'll be surprised if they recover. I'd already avoided going here for the last month, I decided I'd give it a chance again, but after tonight, It's just not worth it.
Previous review, 2022: The food is okay, but certainly not at the standard maintained by most other McDonald's. Both stores in Auburn suffer from issues with service speed (20+ minutes with 5 cars in line, consistently) as well as an employee base who frequently just doesn't care. I'll be clear, there are a few who are really good employees, and take pride in their work. When they work, the food is actually prepared nicely and it's a good atmosphere. But make no mistake, those employees are the minority, and they're overworked due to the insanely fast turnover rate of the majority of employees who don't show up on time if at all, and then they frequently have terrible attitudes. This causes delays in orders, and inaccuracies in the orders. McDonald's needs to start paying their employees the old fashioned way, based on the quality of their work and job ethic. Weed out the ones who don't want to be there. Better pay, better service, happier customers...
Read moreCame to the store at about 9:45am for breakfast. Kiosks were not working and there was a line for the only cashier. When we finally got to the register, I ordered 1 hash brown a large coffee and an oatmeal with fruit. My son ordered a sausage with egg and cheese mcgriddle with 2 hash browns and a soda. While waiting for my order, the MOD kept calling out numbers and what was on the bags. I told her no one was given numbers at the register and she told me we didn't need numbers because she was calling out the orders. She continued yelling out numbers. Not sure why she kept calling out the numbers, and I watched the bags of food pile up. The cashier hadn't asked if I wanted cream or sugar, and I thought it was available in the lobby. So I was served a black coffee. Went up to get 6 cream and 6 sugar, was handed a new coffee with what i wanted in it, but I only wanted to add cream and sugar to the one i had. We only received 2 hashbrowns total. I went back up to the window and was given another hash brown. My oatmeal came with no fruit, so back up to the window I went. I asked a young man, I believe his name was Malik for the fruit. He went to go find some and I noticed that the hat he was supposed to have on his head was attached to his belt on his hip. I waited for a while, then noticed he was back on the line assembling orders and hadn't told me about the fruit. I asked the MOD about the fruit, and she told me they didn't have any. No apology. No offer to refund money (I would have ordered something else if I had known there was no fruit). It took 15 minutes to get my order and 3 separate trips to attempt to get it "right". I spoke with another lady as we left. She said the place was going down hill fast and that the terrible service was normal. I watched people who had been in the drive-thru enter the buildin complaining about the wait time. One person stated they'd been waiting 25 minutes. I've never been to this store, and I will never go back. Hands down it was the worst fast food experience I...
