Coffee Mania — Restaurant in City of Cortland

Ever since I started working in Cortland, I've heard rave reviews about CoffeeMania. But the lines were always long, until today -- I was on a later schedule so I finally had a chance to stop in. First, when you order, be sure to specify hot or cold coffee -- for some reason, my simply asking for a "large coffee" resulted in being given an iced coffee. They quickly corrected the order, but I noticed the iced coffee costs more than hot coffee... no idea if I was overcharged since I wasn't offered a receipt and I had also ordered a pastry, for which prices were not posted. OK, so mistakes happen -- why a 2-star review? I wasn't crazy about the taste of the coffee. And as I got down to the last "2 fingers" of coffee in the cup, I was greeted by a mouthful of coffee grounds, right in the middle of a video call with a co-worker in a different city. Yuck! This experience definitely fell short of all the good things...

Coffee Mania is an incredible local experience. Between cute seasonal cups that get you a discount in your refills, to affordable coffee, to amazing service enough cannot be said about this invaluable local business. I have been going to Coffee Mania since I was a child and even through Covid they built community and brought smiles to people and animals alike. (I love seeing dogs get their treats!) Never have I met such a poor excuse of a barista that wanted to stand there and argue with me over MY TASTE BUDS! I do not care if you've been there for 8 years. I WAS drinking the pomegranate green tea longer than that. The tea is not what it used to be and has tasted like blue raspberry for the last couple of years at this point.
