Title: An Unforgettable Culinary Adventure at Mazar Kabab - Sami's Kabab House
Review:
Over the last couple of years, I've enjoyed attending two wedding receptions at Mazar Kabab - Sami's Kabab House, an authentic Afghan restaurant nestled in the inviting town of Glen Cove, NY. This venue offers an exquisite blend of traditional Afghan food and a heartwarming atmosphere that instantly makes you feel at home.
Once you step inside, you're instantly transported to a quiet haven in Afghanistan. The Afghan-inspired decor is charming and welcoming, with comfortable lighting creating an inviting ambiance, ideal for any celebratory occasion. The large seating area proves to be a boon for grand events, and the convenience of free parking adds to the appeal of this venue.
However, the crowning glory of Mazar Kabab - Sami's Kabab House is its tempting array of dishes. The expansive menu boasts a variety of delectable Afghan cuisine that will undoubtedly satiate your culinary curiosity. A standout dish for me was the Lamb Chos paired with aromatic rice. The plate, cooked to tender perfection and infused with exotic spices, this dish is a must-try. The Chicken Soup's comforting warmth, the freshly baked Afghan Naan, and the velvety Hummus further amplified the dining experience.
The subtly flavored Aghan green tea at Mazar Kabab - Sami's Kabab House is an absolute delight, offering a refreshing counterpoint to the flavorful meal. The Afghan Jalebi, a sweet delicacy doused in simple syrup, provided the perfect ending to a memorable meal.
Despite its bustling nature, the service here is impressive. The staff are always courteous and attentive, their constant smiles adding to the friendly atmosphere. The quick service ensures a smooth dining experience without compromising the quality of the food.
The one recommendation I'd make involves the recent renaming of the restaurant. The transition from Sami's Kabab House to Mazar Kabab - Sami's Kabab House can confuse patrons. Streamlining the name to either 'Mazar Kabab' or 'Sami's Kabab House' might prove beneficial in maintaining clarity.
In conclusion, Mazar Kabab - Sami's Kabab House offers a dining experience that is both captivating and memorable. Whether you're a food enthusiast seeking to embark on a culinary journey or someone looking for a perfect venue for your next big event, this restaurant is an excellent choice. I can't wait for my next visit to further...
Read moreLooking for new places to try, we choose Sami's. As the Astoria location was closed, we drove all the way to the Glen Cove one. The place looked like it didn't belong in New York, but in Miami with trees and dim lit lights. The interior has a modern vibe, with decorative pictures, and bright recess lights. The staff were very helpful and hospitable. We ordered for takeout as they were closing up, but they still gave us green tea and firnee (dessert on the house) while we waited for our food.
The food was delicious! However, the portions were small. The uzbeki palaw comes with carrots only. I was anticipating both carrots and raisins but perhaps some places don't include raisins. The lamb chops entree comes with 4 pieces of lamb chops. I'd recommend the combo platter to get a taste of all meats! The sauces were ample and tasted great.
The firnee and shir birinj were delicious as well. They were nice and soft--neither hard nor overly sweet. It was perfect!
They also had some bottled white sauce for sale ($5 a bottle). If you want some extra white sauce to go, you...
Read moreI just wanted to leave a review for Sami’s Kebab House of Glen Cove. As soon as I arrived to pick up my food, I was warmly greeted by Sami, the owner, his brother and the manager. They were all so incredibly friendly and welcoming. You can see that they are the type of people who will go over and above to make you feel at home at their restaurant. We ordered the chicken breast kebab and as well as the boneless chicken Afghani kebab, which were the thighs. They were both cooked absolutely perfect-so juicy and flavorful! The uniquely delicious flavor of the rice balanced out with sweet carrots and raisins, called Qabuli, made it twice as delicious. The homemade custard dessert that was infused with cinnamon, rose water & cardamom was amazing and a great ending to a great meal! The kebab dinner also included salad and Afghani bread. I wish you as much success with your new Glen Cove location as you have with your Astoria restaurant! I recommend everyone to try Sami’s Kebab House! We’ll definitely be regular customers here!!!
