Glen Cove Diner — Restaurant in City of Glen Cove

I don't normally give 5 stars on everything but this place "takes the cake", I mean literally. I ordered a spinach feta cheese omelette that wasn't even on their menu and they made it for me👍. I added home fries and rye toast. Instead I got "kibbles and bits" on the potatoes and marble rye. I don't want to site the potatoes as significant but to be honest I was expecting chunks of potatoes as if it was cut fresh. As bits it looked like it came out of a bag. My friend had a club sandwich and fries that looked spectacular. It was so good and big from the picture enclosed he couldn't finish it. Let me add the attention to the coffee service. The waiters didn't stop on the refills and it was constant, Thank You👍

The Diner inside is quite airy, modern with up-to-date furniture and lighting. The natural light coming through all those large windows worked well also with the ambience of the place. The Diner has 2 bathrooms co-ed, both with modern amenities and CLEAN. Parking lot is large with two entry ways, one from Glen Street the other from Pearsal Avenue. That right there should tell you something? If you past one entry way on deciding whether or not to eat here? You'd still have a second chance at their other entry location... 😆 LOL

Let me preface with I’ve been coming here over a decade and breakfast service used to be great I’m not so sure what happened. Never had an issue any other time of the day really. But anyways it’s little off putting when your waitress says the coffee is still brewing it’ll be a few and then someone else 5 mins later walks by with an entire pot and other people are being served theirs who came in after us. My spouse didn’t get his coffee until a few mins before our food came out. We ended up asking different waitress for the cup of coffee and she came back within seconds. Our actual waitress never mentioned a word about the coffee not even when she came back with the food. Had we not brought it to someone else’s attention I'm not even sure we would’ve gotten it lol. I saw another review mention almost word for word the same thing happened to them so not just us. Also who seasons home fries with oregano? It overpowered my entire plate and I ended up just picking around my omelette which wasn’t exactly cheap. With a lot of places the food is only as good as it’s service and was left a bit...

So I just left the Diner. Our meal was good soup to nuts. Everyone was satisfied and the service was fine. What bugged me however was that I was charged 3% extra on my bill for using a credit card. I find this tacky and underhanded since no one mentioned this and after receiving my bill and calculating the tip and surrendering my credit card the anount changed. When I got the check back to sign it was a different amount than when it was presented initially. I was in business for over 20 yrs. i know it is difficult in todays day and age but credit card fees are part of the cost of doing business. It is unfair to me and discriminatory to me that as a credit card user I should be priced differently or punished for my form of payment. I will most likely not frequent this establishment again because of this policy. If you need to raise prices I understand but sneaking fees onto a family of four that drops over a hundred bucks isn't the answer. It left me with a bad taste...
