Where do I begin… Although this restaurant is beautifully decorated with a wonderful ambience, the food and the service was the complete opposite. I went there with six other members of my family- We are a family that likes to taste everything so we order alot- we ordered about 20 different dishes… The food was literally not edible. We ordered truffle fries and what came out was a bowl of french fries that were literally black because there was 30 pounds of black pepper on them… When we told the waiter he tried to tell us that it was shaved black truffles but I think it's very obvious what the flavor of pepper tastes like. They took it back and brought out actual truffle fries, with shaved truffles which were actually quite good. The veal had no flavor, the gnocchi was literally mashed potato with no flavor, The pasta was so hard that we couldn't even eat it, And I ordered mozzarella with peaches- Which is the only thing that wasn't a cooked dish and I ordered it for an appetizer and it showed up 20 minutes after all of our other meals came when they gave us the check- we no longer even wanted it by then, it is was probably the easiest thing to make considering you're just slicing cheese and peaches. With all this, we just decided, maybe this place was not for us and simply asked for the check. While waiting for the check, the waiter brought out two orders of the mozzarella with peaches after we canceled it 20 mins prior- We told him we canceled it, and he stood there, still wanting to put the food on the table. A woman with blonde hair approached our table and loudly said "do we have a problem here?" We were like no we canceled this 20 minutes ago. The check was just brought to us. We ordered this as an appetizer And it was brought to our table with the check- Instead of just taking the dish away, she obnoxiously explains to us the way that tapas works, and the dishes are brought out as soon as they are made… So all of us confused were like OK but this is literally sliced cheese and peaches, So as per what you're explaining, it should've been the first thing that was brought out before steak, veal, pasta, and every other dish that we ordered. We didn't make a big deal. We were not looking for anything to be taken off the check. We just realized that maybe this was not the right restaurant for us as we look for restaurants that have food that has a lot of flavor and people not screaming at us. She then goes to tell us that the pasta is Al dente and that's the way it should be cooked and we were like no we know what al dente is. This pasta is hard as in it's crunchy to chew. Again, we weren't looking for a problem. We just wanted the check and to leave and this woman, who we came to find out was the chef's wife, was so incredibly nasty to us, Screaming at us and belittling us making it seem like we just don't understand how restaurants work and how food is supposed to be made. Everyone in my family works in some sort of customer service so we are all aware that in any situation the customer is always right but when you have people that are not making a big deal about the horrible experience they just had for a couple hundred dollar meal, to be spoken to the way that this woman spoke to us was the biggest turn off ever. We will never step foot into that restaurant ever again-our entire family is from Glen Cove and no one will ever go to that restaurant that knows us or is related to us ever again and sadly enough with word-of-mouth over the course of the past two weeks any person that speaks about that restaurant talks about a bad experience with the same blonde lady and her nasty attitude. I'm not one to write a bad review as I am a big advocate for small businesses and if this restaurant was maybe not what we expected food wise, I would wish them nothing but the best but what made this a completely awful disgusting experience was the chef/ Owner's wife- She should not be a person that speaks to customers ever, and we will never be returning to this restaurant ever again due to how she spoke to us...
Read moreBefore I go on…. This is a STRONG 4… if I could give a 4.8 I would. I had asked that we can sit side by side when I booked- when we arrived the hostess remembered the request and placed our menus down next to each other-it was nice to see she remembered that i asked that-old fashioned I know but we like sitting side by side-i wouldn’t expect that on a Saturday night but was grateful and appreciative to have it on a Wednesday. Start with the positives-cocktails were inventive and delicious. Started with the “best intentions”-I’m usually a reposado/rocks girl but decided to give it a go-for the win-it was stiff, peppered rim, perfect. Service and recommendations by the servers were on point. They were pleasant and present but did not hover or intrude on our romantic quiet dinner. We started with straciatella artichoke -wow-the dusting of pistachios was perfect. The street corn salad is a must-it’s served warm and it ALL works. Taro gnocchi was delicious-beyond-it was the perfect sharing size because any larger and it would’ve felt like Typical Long Island pasta overkill. Lamb meatballs were great-served Italian style -would’ve liked to see them naked with a tzatziki maybe? But we were not disappointed. We chose our own way (not suggested so I’m owning that) and got the Paella.. I suggest you pass in this one if you’re expecting Paella with chorizo-my ONLY critique is of this dish -the chorizo was more of an Italian sausage and the rice felt like Chinese fried rice with seafood. I’d choose one of the other suggestions by your server. They took it off the bill (we never asked -that was nice and not needed it was our error in ordering. Finished with gelato-we just were expecting some scoops of vanilla…. NOPE! This was homemade -like from the TAP fresh gelato. Incredible!!! Save room. I recommend a Montenegro to finish but we’ll have ours back home. I grew up over here in Old Brookville and we came here from Huntington -we texted friends after the first 2 dishes and said “this is our next spot for group dinner”. We’ll be...
Read moreSo my order was a doordash order. Granted you alway give a little leeway for the delivery and time it takes to get to you, so food may not be exactly same as restaurant. Usually high end meals on doordash are great, this place however was on another level of bad unfortunately. Each item literally tasted terrible or had no taste. The paella had this off putting flavor, couldnt even get a spoon of rice its so overloaded with veggies, there is barely no rice, whatever rice is in there is hard rice and tasted terrible. The salmon was fishy and was inedible, texture smell taste everything is off, and we get alot of salmon ordered from many different places. The duck confit was literally THE WORST i've ever had in my life. Smelled and tasted like very old, overcooked dried out meat, and instead of a lovely crispy skin i got a black burnt mess of fat on top, not crispy, literally was not even duck confit, they can't call it that. The mashed sweet potato side tasted terrible and couldnt get past two bites, plus hard undercooked pearl onions. Dessert was chef special, it was sour tasting chocolate lava cake, evena cheap lava cake is better than this. Truly all around terrible, had to try and get refund from doordash and literally threw everything in the garbage, and about to re order a different dinner. Huge waste of time money and effort. This place shouldnt exist if this is how...
