I waited a long time to post this video. No the wedding i went to wasnt in this place, but entire family & friends booked The Mansion at Glen Cove in Long Island NY to stay for 2 nights. Everyone in our party can agree this place was ghetto and giving horror movie vibes. #hotelreview #themansionatglencove #horrorstory #hanutedmansion

PLEASE IF YOY ARE CONSIDERING STAYING HERE READ MY VERY LONG POST! I wish I had listened to the other reviews! This is by far the WORST hotel I have ever stayed at! It is filthy and smelly! To be perfectly honest I have yet to find something I like about it here. When I checked it it was s 25 minute ordeal as the woman first said I had no reservation, then she argued that I had only booked it the night before when I had actually booked AND pre-paid for it 11 days earlier! Then she argued that I had the wrong credit card which after I showed her my PAID for reservation for a third time she accepted that I knew which card I had used. I also said I paid EXTRA to get a “Deluxe” room in the main building. I was send down a long hallway then down a set of stairs to another hallway then down another set of stairs to a very musty smelling hallway. BTW there are NO elevators nor anyone or anything to drag your bags to what seems a room a mile away! Also hauling them back UP two sets of stairs! We went out and did not return to our room till after 11pm. After being awake for 37 hours and 24 hours driving we all needed showers. We booked a room for 3 but there were only 2 towels in our room. 😳We had to call and wait for more. While waiting to shower we killed three bugs in the bathroom and cleaned off the hair on the door from the previous guests. I wanted to get ice which the only machine is very far away AND they had not cleaned the ice bucket out from the previous guests. 🤢. Nor the coffee cup!

Day two of our stay. We were out all day again and I had promised my 10yr old he could swim. We were banished to the indoor pool as the weekends apparently they serve liquor at the outdoor pool so kids are not allowed. Something we were NOT told when making reservations or at check in! BTW they even charge guests $10 each to swim in the pool!!! As you can see by my pictures the indoor pool is gross!!! Cloudy, green algae in the pool, not hot tub, dirty gross hair and trash everywhere! PILES of dead bugs everywhere! I would not get in the eater! 🤢🤢🤢. Next my son wanted to play ping pong. We had to find a guy to find a ball and as you can see from my pics the paddles were a mess and the table broken. Next stop was a game of pool, too bad all the cue sticks are broken and unusable! 😡. We did manage to play one game while listening to someone’s dog barking incessantly!!!!!!! After that back to our room for showers. Now the toilet won’t stop running so I had to call to have that fixed! Apparently that happens often as the worker said “Well they are just old” My son asked to play on my laptop I brought but the WiFi was also not working in our room!!! Next I tried to call room service but no one answered so who even answered at the front desk took my order. He SPECIFICALLY asked what type of cheese on my burger but as you can see by my pic no cheese on my cold burger that took over an hour to get and a terrible salad with rock hard tomatoes and carrots?? 😂😂😂When I looked at the room service bill I was to sign I asked the kid who delivered it why was I being charged both a service charge AND a room service charge and he had no idea and also said I got no receipt, AND I had to find my own pen as he had none with him. One set of silverware for two dinners, I guess their kids eat with their fingers and don’t need a napkin??? One would think for over $40 for a burger and chicken nugget we could at least get two napkins! 😂😂😂.

Our so called DELUXE room has two double beds with sheets snd blankets so old they are frayed and see through. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone!

Notice the response from the owner.... she does not even care how gross and dirty the place is. I also want to know why children are not allowed at the “clean” pool? I guess they don’t like children! They should make it a no children hotel because it is NOT child friendly! Oh and btw the bathroom toilet never...

Our experience here was nothing short of exceptional. I don't understand how some reviewers felt otherwise.

My wife and I renewed our vows at The Mansion at Glen Cove on Oct 20th, 2023. It was basically a wedding celebration. The event coordinator, Astrid, was the best! She was so attentive to detail, and was always available to talk to us about anything during the planning phases leading up to our event. She truly seems to love her job and wants peoples events to be perfect.

The Maitre D, Mike, was the man. His attention to detail was spot on. From making sure everyone looked there best, to making sure the space was decorated and organized perfectly, to keeping the timing and schedule on point. We had some very last minute changes we needed, and there were no complaints, just fast problem solving. His attitude was light hearted, but focused.

The food was also INCREDIBLE. I've NEVER been to a wedding or coordinated event where the food was so good. The head chef went out of his way to accent the Colombian roots of my wife and her family when he did NOT have to. His staff were all friendly, and he was very reachable for questions prior to our event. The cake he made was also gorgeous.

The bridal attendant for my wife was also so on top of things. She was there for absolutely ANYTHING my wife needed. She intuitively knew when to fix the dress for photos and went above and beyond to make sure my wife didn't have to stress about anything.

I know I'm forgetting to single some people out and I feel awful about it. There are at least 2 or 3 other people that really did a truly wonderful job to make this day perfect for us and our guests both on the day, and leading up to it.

Now of course, I have to mention the Mansion itself. This place is a work of art. The grounds are beautiful, and the rooms of the mansion itself is like historical art. Its truly a special place.

We stayed in both the honeymoon suit, which was a large, gorgeous room with a soaking tub, and a luxury double room which was more like a nice, typical hotel room. I've read some reviews that were disappointed in the rooms. I understand they are remodeling many rooms so maybe those people got old rooms? Ours and that of our guests were exactly what you'd expect of a standard luxury hotel room.

I've also seen some reviews comment on the remodeling upgrades, saying it negatively impacted their stay. This is silly. The mansion sends out emails and even has a print out upon check in explaining what they are trying to accomplish with the remodeling. During our event, the pool and spa weren't available due to this. Who cares? I think it's unfair to give a place a poor review because they are actively working to improve their amenities.

The ONLY negative of our entire experience there, was that there were a few times that the front desk was not on the same page as the rest of the staff. They weren't rude, they were doing their job, they just weren't aware of who we were, or what was going on. Nothing that can't be addressed. It's important all staff are on the same page, especially if someone is having a special event and has pre-made arrangements.

Anyway, the overall feeling is that my wife and I wish we could have an experience like what the mansion provided for us every weekend if we could! It was truly perfect and we are so grateful to all the staff and everyone that made it possible.

We will definitely be recommending the Mansion to people in the future and can't wait to use them again for our next event, or even for a weekend...

We enjoyed our stay at the Mansion in Glen Cove and will return the next time we visit family in Glen Cove.

I have a lot to say about this unusual hotel so I'm going to begin with the best parts of our stay with a more comprehensive review below.

Highlights: The staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating. Over 55 acres of beautiful grounds. Excellent complimentary continental breakfast. Comfortable mattress, with decent sheets. Overall cleanliness is very good and though it is an older property, the hotel smells fresh. Diverse spaces throughout the hotel to congregate with others. Tons of options if you wanted to host an event.

We arrived nearly two hours before check-in & swung by the Mansion to see if an early check-in was possible. Fortunately, it was a possibility & the front desk staff was gracious In making this accommodation.

We were pleased with our room (we rented the Regular King Suite rather than the Deluxe).

With a little time to spare we visited the pool. We found that experience to be a little strange. The hours are limited and irregular. That day the pool closed at 6:30 p.m. and in order to visit the pool you were required to wear a tyvek wrist band that indicated you were a hotel guest.

The pool has cabanas around it but they were closed & not avaliable for the hotel guests. There were large round floats avaliable for rent. Every chair & table had a reserved sign on it even though there were only two other couples present. As hotel guests, were told we could sit at the tables or the long chairs. It was not entirely clear to me if the larger mattress lounges and cabanas were not avaliable for us or if we needed to pay more to rent those. We only had an hour, so we didn't investigate.

We did order beverages and our server Eden was prompt, pleasant and professional.

The check-in packet explained the pool arrangements further, something about a local pool club, but we only visited the one time. We did swing by on July 4th & it looked like it would have been wonderful.

Upon returning from the pool we discovered that the bathroom, though it had been remodeled (the shower fixtures were top-notch) didn't have any towel bars or hooks upon which to hang our towels or wet bathing suits. Minor, but a pretty important detail for a property that is charging upwards of $300 per night.

The room had other idiosyncrasies such as mismatched lamps, a busted lampshade and no charging ports.

Things to consider: The entire property is historic. Even the "new" section was built in 1967 and was one of the first conference centers in the country. It's in the process of a renovation & as such there is evidence of maintenance in many corners of the property. If you care about the little things, spring for the Deluxe room.

Room for improvement: The QR code provided in the room that indicated it contained important information led to a url not found error. A text to a number provided to answer questions was answered six hours after we checked out. A call to the front desk in regarding a lost item has thus far gone unreturned. (Three days ago.) Perhaps a spot to report list items on the website could improve this?

It's a great property overall but it's obviously in flux. More attention to detail (& perhaps a few more staff) would bring it to...
