I've been here twice now. The first time I ordered shawarma, and the second foul. Their shawarma was unique compared to other places I've had it, I suspect the people comparing it to ranch might be mistaking the possible vinegar and anise (or baharat mix) that is used in some regional versions of shawarma, because those were two flavors I picked up on right away. I'm not the biggest vinegar fan, but when I get Chai, I actually look for chai with a stronger anise flavor in it. This was the first place I have had foul, and it was amazing. I don't quite know what to compare it to for an American palette, but it was good both with the naan and to just eat by itself after I'd finished the naan.
The inside was decorated with very pretty fake flowers. They were nicer than a lot of other silk print flowers I've seen for my own projects, and added life to a small sit down that typically would feel dull for the size of Crave King. It is small, but the booths are comfortable and looked well maintained.
There was a language barrier, but the person working there had no problem using a translator so that we could effectively communicate, and neither did I. I know just enough Arabic to say thank you, and wish someone a happy Ramadan, and he knew much more English than I do Arabic. Thanks to modern technology, we were able to have a very lovely conversation, something that is very important to me when I am able to leave the house. I would suggest if you are an English speaker, to come in or order with a delivery app, so that communication will be a lot easier.
I would definitely recommend this little restaurant if you are looking for something new, or want to try the many different versions of "Mediterranean Food". The items may have the same names, but each region will do it just differently from the other that it is worth trying it from different places.
I look forward to coming back and seeing what other new recipes there are to try, and how ones I've already tried might be different here from other places I've tried here in Buffalo.

Read moreI had the pleasure of dining at Crave King, a Yemeni restaurant, and it was an unforgettable culinary experience. I ordered the Lamb Ghallaba over hummus, and it was an absolute delight for the senses. The highlight of the meal was undoubtedly the lamb itself. It was tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The blend of spices and herbs in the Ghallaba created a rich and aromatic sauce that paired beautifully with the succulent lamb. The addition of hummus added a creamy and savory element to the dish, elevating it to a whole new level of deliciousness. But what truly impressed me was the bread that accompanied the meal. Freshly baked and served warm, it was a heavenly combination of softness and slight crispiness. Each bite was a treat in itself, and it was the ideal vessel for savoring every bit of the dish. To complete the meal, I enjoyed a cup of tea that can only be described as “to die for.” The tea was steeped to perfection, and the Yemeni flavors shone through beautifully. It was a soothing and aromatic way to end the meal. The ambiance at Crave King was cozy and welcoming, and the staff were incredibly hospitable. It’s evident that they take great pride in serving authentic Yemeni cuisine with a commitment to quality and flavor. My dining experience at Crave King was nothing short of exceptional. If you’re looking for a place to savor the flavors of Yemen and enjoy a truly delightful meal, I highly recommend Crave King. It’s a hidden gem that...
Read moreI was craving Mediterranean food and came here and found out it was Yemeni. I usually don't like lamb at all but figured I'd try the food how it's traditionally made and got the lamb Ghallabah. It was amazing. The rice it's served over is fluffy and flavorful, the lamb is served with veggies over the rice and is deliciously seasoned. The portions are generous (I couldn't finish more than half my plate and took the rest into work, it was even better reheated once the flavors blended, like a good chili gets better on day 2). Staff was friendly and the food came out quickly and was piping hot. Their hummus is home made with plenty of tahini. Keep an eye out for the spicy sauce they give you on the side, it's got great flavor, but does pack some heat.
only complaint is the lack of seating, the place is tiny.
Overall wonderful food, and I highly...
