My first and only experience with Holy dog was not very pleasant, it was around a year ago about midday I decided to stop in and try one of those dogs that everyone was talking so highly of, as I approached I saw a man standing outside the front door (kind of Scruffy) messing with his hair, face and smoking a cigarette, as I went through the door the man followed behind me and went behind the counter. I really don't recall what kind of hotdogs I ordered but I do remember ordering two of them, so the guy proceeded to grab the rolls and everything else without ever washing his hands or putting on gloves, how unsanitary is that? I myself found it to be disgusting. I ordered them to go and needless to say they went into the closest garbage can that I found. I have no idea if anything has changed since then because I have never been back and I have no plans on doing so, maybe the hot dogs in that place are good but let me tell you the hygiene...
Read moreHoly dog has been around for awhile now and I see why.The place only takes cash which I didn’t know so I was just going to wait until next time to order, so in the process of me leaving I was outside when I heard miss comeback so I stopped and the cook/owner said to me don’t worry about paying me now, pay me when you come back because I know you’ll be back. I have never had a business say pay me later. My mind was blown. He new after trying his food I would definitely be back. I did end up paying cash (they have a ATM machine in the corner) initially I just didn’t want the fee’s and like he said I definitely will be going back. The only downside was it did get smoky and the place is small,so basically get in...
Read moreSmall local hot dog joint with a super cool owner. He always brings in complimentary soups when the weather is bad, and hands you a cup once you walk in the door, "just for showing up" he says. Luckily both times we've stopped by was when the weather was bad. So besides awesome hotdogs he also makes great chicken noodle and corn chowder soups :) We were recommended the Girlfriend Treatment, when we couldn't decide between the spicy or sweet chopped sausage, he gave us half and half to try both.
This is a cash only place and there is I believe 2 or 3 parking spots right next to the entrance, although street parking is also easy to find. The inside has small bar style seats for maybe a handful of people. My only complaint is about the ventilation - well there is pretty much none, which is why I docked a star. So if you eat in, be prepared to come out with a full belly, and smelling like hot dog...
