Apologize in advance for any typos. Has I'm using a voice text to assist me in completing this quickly. At the risk of sounding like a d-bag, I have been waiting months to be able to get back to Something Sweet if not longer, and well... Let me see the good first. Good? I love this place. It just is super relaxed and really just cool. It's got a really cool vibe to it. This place is obviously for adults. And I like that. :-) the place is called something sweet and it really delivers where that is concerned. The Suites are absolutely fantastic I've had them on numerous occasions and never been disappointed with anything that I purchased. On to their coffee, the quality of their coffee is really well I'm not going to say second to none cuz that's quite a high bar, but it really is absolutely fantastic. The coffee is full flavored well roasted robust without being overly bitter as a finish, super pleasing on the palate. The staff is always really Pleasant and very polite and very accommodating oh, that's why I like this place and the only reason I don't get by more often as I live quite a distance away. I also didn't know their hours which are for the most part just lunch hours which is kind of odd for being also a coffee house. Where I have a problem, insert douchebag part, is in the execution of a very simple drink. And I don't blame the staff that made my drink, I blame the ownership or management. I asked for a very simple thing which was a large cappuccino extra dry. This is a basic drink, and what you would expect to have is a cappuccino with Les steamed milk and more foam. Instead, what I received, was more foam and lots of milk. Which technically is closer to a latte macchiato. now I still love the taste of the drink oh, it just could have been better. And one of the reasons why I asked for the drink extra dry is because of an issue with too much Dairy. Not to be a jerk, that wasn't my intention. And when you're pan close to four bucks for a drink you kind of want to get it right.. now I also know that very few people will say anything they just instead we'll out tell other people or not come back. I do plan on coming back, hopefully I don't have to say anything to the person behind the counter and have them remake my drink. i instead would love to have the simple pleasure of having my drink that I waited months and months for made correctly. Again, I would definitely come back, I love the place, unless they decide to be less than friendly I would always want to come back. :-) something sweet does a good job! I just wanted it to be great. something sweet thanks for all...
Read moreToday I visited family in Middletown and decide to go to something sweet cafe, or should I say something not so sweet. My sister, and I had ordered To-go from this cafe before, and had a pleasant experience. Which shocked me this time around, seeing that today’s experience was not only disappointing, but left me disheartened . We walked in a lil pass 4 o’clock to order to-go desserts, and walked over to the pastry case to wait for someone to take our order. Ten minutes pass, and no one greets, or even acknowledges us waiting there, so we proceed to ask the young blonde by the POS system “ Id like to order pastries to-go...” , she just nods. After another 10 mins or so pass, my sister asked the ( what seemed to be the bus boy) to help us please, and he was as sweet as can be, to help us as fast as possible. When he was done he asked if he could help with anything else, so I inquired about a discount for the inconvenience, not only waiting so long, but for the simple fact that no one said a word to us for 20 mins😯. Now, I normally wouldn’t write a review on a place, but the manager that the gentleman redirected me to, to ask about a discount was wildly inappropriate in her aggressive tone and attitude towards me. She began to yell at me, and purposely try to embarrass me in front of other patrons explaining how the cafe was busy, and everyone’s trying their best, and how the phones have been none stop( it wasn’t that busy....guess for Middletown 🤷🏽♀️). After the continuous confinement in the business, she then grabbed the items I was ready to pay for and slammed them in front of me, and loud and sarcastically tells me “ here just take it , thank you for your patronage” I placed cash in the tip jar, but the shock of the level of disrespect given to me was appalling. Giving me the free pastries doesn’t cover up the fact that you’re rude and unprofessional. So be warned, if you don’t like being disrespected, I guess this isn't the...
Read moreWe’ve been twice- once at the bar for happy hour and once for dinner. The people are super nice and it’s really cute inside.
Visit 1: The happy hour small plates were exceptional, great prices and high quality food. We got the eggplant rollatini (SO good) and the shrimp. Both were amazing and I’d absolutely order again! It was PACKED there, we were able to get two seats at the bar but all tables were full and lots of people were turned away because they were so busy.
Visit 2: We made a reservation for 5 pm on a Friday and were the first people in the restaurant/probably didn’t need a reservation. We ordered the Mediterranean small plate to start which was great. For our mains we got the shrimp linguini and the fusilli. Both were good but not amazing and not really what we were expecting with the upscale dining vibe they’re presenting- definitely something I could have made at home. We also got sticky toffee cake for dessert which was great! We will absolutely be back but I think we’ll stick to the...
