After checking out a few Westchester bakeries for our wedding cake, my now husband and I stumbled upon Fleetwood Bake Shoppe. We had heard so many good things about this place, but never had tried them ourselves. We scheduled a cake tasting to check them out. When we walked in, we knew right away from the amazing smell that this was going to be the place that would make our wedding cake. We hadn’t even tried a thing yet! The girls behind the counter are absolutely as sweet as can be. They sat us down and got us coffees and waters before we met with Enzo. Enzo, you have got to be the kindest business owner I have ever met. We had no idea what kind of cake we wanted and after asking us a few questions about our taste preferences, he figured out the perfect combination. Our cake was AMAZING! We realized a few weeks before the wedding that we wanted to order some pastries and cookies for the table. Everyone made sure to quickly help us and they even threw in some extra treats for the bride and groom on the house. I think the best part is this. The day of the wedding, I received a phone call from the bakery. (Well my bridesmaid answered the phone for me). I had forgotten to bring flowers as I said I would prior the wedding day. I told them don’t worry about it you can just leave it plain. All I know is that when I walked into my reception room, I saw my gorgeous cake with FLOWERS! I still don’t know how they did it, but they made my vision come to life. I was blown away. Thank you so much for this! After a long awaited cheat meal at Johnny's Pizza in Mt Vernon ( absolutely amazing) I had a craving for something sweet so while driving home with my girlfriend we decided to try this random bakery and boy was it a mistake. As an Italian man raised in Astoria, Queens i know my way around a delicious bakery and idk if the head baker went on vacation for the winter ( hopefully to find better recipes) ¹or if this is the typical quality of this place but marone i feel for the neighborhood if this is the level of pastry quality you guys are accustomed too. After binge watching The Sopranos and to celebrate the series finale with my girlfriend I felt it was necessary to order the Sfogliatella....please don't make the same mistake as me, the cream is overwhelming sweet while having no actual flavor and the "flaky" crust tasted old and lacked the buttery layers that make it a truly special treat. Unfortunately it got even worse....the rainbow cookies were drier than the Griswold Turkey and the mini chocolate cake frosting tasted like it came right from a supermarket aisle. PLEASE I IMPLORE YOU do not waste your time or cheat day on this establishment you are only setting yourself up for disappointment and regret Happy...
