A new gem in the City of Poughkeepsie!
Starting off with their menu. The options are aplenty! Nearly everything one could possibly want of Indian food can be found here. Not to mention, the physical menu has mouthwatering photos of their many offerings.
The restaurant is very well lit, inside and out. Their shelves are well stocked and organized, and I was greeted in such a warm, welcoming manner.
My food was ready for pickup at the exact time I was told, and when I brought it home and unwrapped everything, I was so pleased with what I saw and smelled.
The vibrancy of the Veggie Fried Rice was unlike any I’ve seen before. It was beautiful, honestly. It also contained a healthy portion of vegetables.
The Butter Chicken smelled so good! And the taste matched it so nicely. I will say, it was a bit spicier than I anticipated, but no complaints about this. It was a cold evening, and this was what I needed.
Lastly, the Chilli Garlic Naan was the perfect complement to the meal. Just the right amount of spiciness and good texture. It enhanced the whole experience.
I highly recommend Dhaniya Mirch! It is so nice to have them...
Read moreSeeing that there was a decent amount of Indian restaurants, I wanted to try some before leaving town. We didn’t have much time so I thought maybe a quick pickup from a mom and pop shop might do the trick. I did myself and Poughkeepsie a disservice here.
The butter chick resembled nothing like butter chicken. The sauce broke down so the fat separated from the sauce and it was an oily mess. The biryani was more like gumbo than anything, except it had no salt at all so the dish was spicy from all the spices. The rice was all mush and the chicken was also broken down into the rice so like I said, it was more like a gumbo. The samosas at least tasted decent but that’s probably because reheating them cant change the taste and texture too much.
Maybe it was good when it first opened but it is a HEAVY PASS on this.
I dislike leaving negative comments but this place needs to own up to it. If they change it up and the food quality goes up again, then they would deserve the praise.
This review is ONLY based on the food. The market has some a limited selection. The staff seemed...
Read moreI tried this place for the first time today because they were having a pretty good deal on uber eats and in my 100% honest opinion it wasnt the best ive ever had unfortunately. Heres what I didnt like: the naan is 2 dollars extra i was assuming it would be more than one piece like most indian resturants give but no it was quite literally one piece of naan. I got the tikki masala and i was expecting decent sized chunks of meat but also to be disappointed again they were fairly small pieces. The sauce also lacked alot of flavor there really was none at all i could taste a little bit of spices and it had heat to it but compared to my usual spot Tanjore it was flavorless. What i did like: the meat was very soft the rice was soft and the portion sizes besides the naan were actually really reasonable for one person and the price. Overall I probably wouldnt get food here again maybe in the future to try someonething else on the menu but the lack of flavor just...
