When I'm heading out to explore a new town first thing I do is search for the local coffee shops. So happy to have found Mercat by 1915! The location was easy to find from the train station and the setting is a combination of precious, comfortable and interesting. The coffee was perfect; I had a brewed cup and my partner had a cappuccino. We also shared a delicious pastry. The lovely woman behind the counter was friendly and helpful. She went above and beyond helping us locate a missing jacket later that afternoon, left in the bathroom. Read moreFirst time visiting I bought a cup of coffee. It was tasty, but, a small regular coffee is $3.75 (as of 0ct '24). I find that expensive. Specialty coffees are higher (small latte, $5.41 w/tax). They do daily soups, chili; have ready-made sandwiches (not every day) and various pastries. There are bagged popcorn and chips for snacking. There is a cooler of kombucha teas, sweet tea, cola and water, etc. as well. I have now been back several times & while I still think the prices are on the high side, I do love me a good latte and these folks make a good one. :) Service is very friendly and fast. The food is always fresh and yummy. And the coffee is fantastic! I love that they make their own simple syrups and offer really unique flavors like rose, pandan, pine, etc. The vibe there is also so chill and cozy....
