My bother in law suggested this place (Detroit style pizza with some unique spins) when we went to the garlic festival last year We shared; (*copied from the menu): THE AMBASSADOR; A LAYER OF EZZO'S THICK CUT PEPPERONI UNDERNEATH THE CHEESE, EZZO'S CUP & CHAR ON TOP, RED SAUCE, FRESH BASIL, GRATED PARM, A TRUE DETROIT CLASSIC , FORD FUNGI ROASTED CREMINI AND SHIITAKE MUSHROOMS WITH GARLIC AND THYME, GOAT CHEESE CARAMELIZED ONION, LEMON ZEST, TRUFFLE OIL and The Big Cheese which was my least favorite, and vowed to come again if in the area…
Well after our Howe Caverns excursion, We decided to introduce our Neice and nephew to this unique style pizza. We were a hungry group of 4, it took approx. 2 hrs to get there, and it was worth the drive! We ordered the BBQ WINGS As an appetizer, they were so good that another order was placed to go :) next, we ordered the CUTLASS SUPREME (THICK CUT BACON, HAM, CUP & CHAR PEPPERONI, HOT ITALIAN SAUSAGE, RED ONION, GREEN PEPPERS, OLIVE TAPENADE, RED SAUCE, FRESH GRATED PARMESAN).
Next was the P. Y.T (HEIRLOOM CHERRY TOMATO, ROASTED RED PEPPERS, FRESH MOZZ, BASIL PESTO (MADE WITH SUNFLOWER SEEDS) AGED BALSAMIC FRESH GRATED PARMESAN) my favorite out of the three pizzas, and last was a creation between my Neice and I; The Assembly Line Custom (Tomato Sauce, Finished with pesto, hot honey, and pecorino, Chicken Cutlet bites topped with Burrata). This 8x10” Detroit Style pizza has a nice light fluffy crust with everyday freshly made ingredients, much like farm to table. The sweet 💯’s tomatoes were like nature’s candy. My tastebuds harmoniously savored every flavor, just yum.
The place is very clean with an open kitchen and has a great ambience! Good background music and a high energy staff! A restaurant perfectly balanced to have a good time with excellent service and a very satisfying meal.
Definitely recommend this Detroit Style pizza with some unique spins; it has a nice light thick fluffy crust with everyday fresh ingredients.
Overall, you taste the great flavor profile on the different pies that they serve. Staff is super friendly and quick to the needs of their customers.
Easy public parking across the street for $1.50 per hr!
Another save to my Roster of “go to”...
Read moreTruly a unique and delicious pizza experience. If you like pizza, this restaurant is a must try! Actually drove an hour to try this place because I've heard such good things.
The advice I was given by friends who have been there, said call early or use the website order in advance because it's not a very big place, but at least you'll get your pizza and you can eat it in your car if they're too busy to get a seat.
Fortunately when we arrived the pizza was ready & right on time and there was a spot for us to sit.
Not knowing just how filling these pizzas are. We ordered two. One was called the Maize & blue which was a seasonal pizza with grilled corn corn, jalapeno jam, queso fresco, and a lime crema pizza; holy pizza heaven !
Our other was the pepperoni with the cup and char style pepperoni in a savory and sweet sauce on the top...😍. I've eaten a lot of pizza, and I've been to Detroit several times, This was a home run.
Detroit style is very unique and when it's done right it is spectacular. In this case, Hudson and Packard nailed it. This is the best Detroit style pizza I've ever had. That Lacey cheesy crust up the side of the pan, the crispy golden cheese melty on the top and the cup and char pepperoni was just salty enough to have the sweeter sauce take you for that Detroit pizza ride.
Had an opportunity to stop on my way out the door and say hi to the owner/ Chef & gave him my compliments and told him I will be back for sure. This pizza is worth the drive. Congratulations! It's...
Read moreHudson & Packard is awesome!! We've been wanting to check this place out for a long time and made a point to check it out while we were in Poughkeepsie. It most definitely did not disappoint!!
The atmosphere is great, a compact space with cool décor and a lot of energy. This place has a buzz about it. We sat at the counter and got to watch the team making all of the food. It was extremely impressive to see the frequency they are able to churn out food while still providing a great amount of skill & care to each order. Despite being very busy, the owner Charlie stopped to chat with us a few times as did other members of the staff. They are such a friendly group and they really put the whole experience over the top for us.
The food was everything we had hoped it would be and more. This is not your average pizza place. Hudson & Packard is exactly what you'd expect as the result of a Culinary Institute graduate opening a pizza shop. Elevated food that offers everything you love about pizza with the skill, craft & creativity of a trained chef. The crust is very light and flavorful with any number of delicious toppings to choose from. Everything we had was phenomenal, including the pistachio cake for dessert.
In a region that offers a ton of great spots to eat, Hudson & Packard is definitely one of the must-sees. We will be heading back to the Hudson Valley soon...
