I went into the store and asked for a small rice and oxtail and a small rice with two baked chickens. I ran to my car to get my cash because I didn't want to use my phone to pay because I would have to hand my phone over to her and she would go to the corner and pay. When I came back the food was bagged so I paid for it and came home. I opened the bag only to find out I had the two pieces of chicken with no rice. I called them to understand why I paid the amount I money I did. And the lady was initially speaking English with me with no issues, told me the rice and oxtail was a medium. She couldn't explain why I got a medium when I asked for a small. When I tried to ask her to give me the breakdown of what I paid for since I didn't get any rice she couldn't do that either. And all of a sudden she couldn't speak English. On their menu it says that a small oxtail is $10 and a small baked chicken is $7. I also got a tres leche which on the menu says $4. I paid $24 and didn't even get rice with my chicken. What frustrates me the most is the faking that she could not speak English when she started speaking English with me to begin with. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. There are other Latin restaurants in the area with better customer service and...

The service is very good, and the prices are relatively reasonable. I had their flan, for the first time, and give that I AM Cuban, I tend to be very picky about flan. It was so rich and creamy. I look forward to return the next time I visit Poughkeepsie.
The place that I was originally going to go to for dinner closed early, but going to Nelly's turned out to be a blessing in disguise. The staff was very professional and the food was muy delicioso. I had yellow rice with pigeon peas (also known as arroz con gandules), beef stew (carne guisao) and yuca, as well as a Jarritos soda, Tamarind flavor and a cafe con leche. The beverages were very good and the food was muy delicioso! My Puerto Rican life partner was a little more than annoyed that he was not eating it woth me, so I promised to treat him to dinner here, the next time he can accompany me to Poughkeepsie. And I certainly look forward to returning, as...
Read moreI stopped in today for chicken soup and left with pernil and beans. Hoping for a great experience to along with the food. Unfortunately, the staff was very rude. Though still leaving a tip and being content about the food. The soup and bean containers and tops were replaced with the larger container because they ran out medium sized. This cause all the soup and bean to spill in the bag and onto my car and my clothes. When I returned to the show them, the three ladies in the front didn’t automatically correct their issue. They just stood there and told me we don’t have any more!!! I asked them to please put the soup in a larger container and they still refused. Until I asked one of the male customers to translate in spanish and then and only then they decided to fix the issue. This would have really been a bad look if I was the mayor or city council of this city. This should have been corrected immediately! And I will not...
