There's a lot of good food in Poughkeepsie and a lot of hidden gems all around, but there's absolutely no place around town that will make you feel like Michelle will make you feel. The warmth that was emanated from her the second I stepped food in the doors blew me away. I'm not familiar with the area, and was just passing through town on work, but I found myself coming back time and time again to Empire Jamaica Fusion. The jerk chicken and the jackfruit curry patty was SO good, as well as the bourbon chicken lunch special, but I'm daydreaming about the jackfruit patty. Michelle prides herself on welcoming and growing the community in her neighborhood. She's very helpful and cares so very much about everyone. Dining here will feel better than a home-cooked meal. Their dinner is beautifully plated and coursed and worth every penny. I left extremely happy. As long as the sign says open, Michelle is back there cooking up a storm. Knock on the door even though it's locked or give the store a call and she'll answer and let you in. Lovely space to get the lunch special and work for a few hours. She'll make you feel right at home. I'm very sad I'm not closer to this restaurant.

The sign is so difficult to see from the street that I never noticed this place until a neighbor recommended it. I'm so glad I finally stopped by with friends for dinner. We ordered jackfruit & chickpea patties that were amazing, and enjoyed a really gorgeous salad with field greens, tomatoes, carrots, cucumber & red onions, with honey balsamic vinaigrette. I was pleased to see that the Jamaican sodas were reasonably priced (the mark-up on them at some places is horrendous). For the entrees, we ordered curried chicken, fried chicken, and stewed chicken (pictured), all with colorful mixed cabbage, white rice & fried plantains. The food was made fresh to order and was amazing! I was really impressed with how much fresh vegetables were in the sauces. The portions were decent sized. We left with full bellies & left overs. The owner, Michelle, was very attentive & personable. We loved the ambiance with classic reggae music & stylish modern decor. It was an all around great experience!

Phenomenal food and service. We ordered oxtails and jerk chicken for takeout, they had it ready in 15 min. They close their doors late so I called on arrival, and was welcomed by the most delightful staff and fabulous aroma. The food is tremendous. Jerk chicken is juicy and well spiced (yes it has a kick), the cabbage/peas and rice are flavorful. Thought I didn’t like plantains but they’ve made me think otherwise. Finally the oxtails, they’re succulent, rich and tender. Best part is their portions are very generous. Paid about $45 for 2 meat entrees and we will get another full dinner from our leftovers. They have a few items that are day-specific, so if you really want curry goat, just be sure to go Friday. Of note, we were way too late to eat in but they showed me the dining area. It’s intimate and tucked back in the building. Seems perfect for families or date night. We will be back.

Wow! Wow! Wow! Thank you, Michelle for your outstanding hospitality! I'm so glad that fate pointed me in your direction today. You truly made a long day easier; my saving grace.

This was my first visit to, EJF. I called beforehand to be certain that the restaurant was open.

Michelle, made me aware of the potential 20 minute wait for fish which I had no problem adhering to.

I opted to dine in with my infant daughter, and right from the gate, Michelle, was warm and inviting. She went above and beyond to make us both comfortable and convinced me to stay while I waited for my husband to get out of his appointment. Which was 3 hrs long.

All of my food was cooked to order. The patties $3.99 each: spinach, chicken, jackfruit/chickpea, and veggie. All of the patties were yummy. I loved the variety, something rarely seen.

To the escovitch snapper $21.99 with delicious sautéed cabbage and rice.

Large Curry chicken $15.99.

With drinks, my bill totaled $86. It was worth every penny!

She also has additional space upstairs for private event's .

EJF, is a great space- modern, clean and inviting. And the customer service is unmatched. I'd suggest calling ahead as she makes food to order. Thanks again, Michelle! 😊 xoxo

Ouu let me not forget to mention how nicely she presented my to-go order's. My husband tore his curry chicken up. Thank you for...

. Absolutely astounding. Hands down this is the most authentic Jamaican cuisine with a perfect mixture of elegance and a special attraction to detail. I was leery at first to try the jerk and stew chicken because of my sensitivity to spice, but I was thoroughly impressed that the Chef who also was kid enough to come out and introduce himself, was able to adhere to my needs without me having to sacrifice the authenticity that I was hoping to get. I was served by far the most flavorful meal that left me speechless, I'm not food critic but I felt the need to share my experience. it wasn't just the authentic flavours but I was amazed at the chefs presentation as well. Each dish was unique and both the chef and the charismatic owner Michelle were constantly ensuring that all guest was were treated like family but also, I like most everyone at this warm opening felt a sense of warmth, vibrance, vibe and prestige. I will be back indefinitely. I even scheduled a catering for my mother's birthday. What a wonderful place in a beautiful location and all around good vibes!
