UpStream Cafe, LLC — Restaurant in City of Poughkeepsie

Met with a friend here, who was traveling in from Florida, this past Friday. I got seafood soup, which was delicious and had a clear southern-style flair. My friend got vegan lasagna and cleared her plate. Along with this, we tried their homemade juices, which were tasty but very strong. The server (who was wonderful) brought me ice and water in two glasses so I could cut it to my taste. Other people might like the juice straight up - I even cut orange juice with water, so I'm already an unusual case. I brought home a red velvet cake slice, and the buttercream had a slight lemon taste to it, which as a refreshing surprise. The service was wonderful, and the chef even came out to say hi. They were courteous about us sitting in a little late - not a word, and good cheer when we apologized and realized we'd been in late. The staff had a wonderful sense of humor (I think they were the owners), and it was clear they had many regular clients already who enjoyed them and their food a lot. Edited: I finally brought my family back. They all loved the food. Such a warm welcoming place. You have to stop by and try it! Chef Salmon is hands down one of the best Jamaican chefs I know.

Edited Again: Upstream you have outdone yourself again! My extended family wanted to experience the amazing cuisine I have been bragging about. So instead of all 40 of us taking the trip to the cafe, we ordered from their catering menu and feasted in the comfort of our own home.

The food was absolutely amazing. We ordered escovitch Fish (Whiting and Snapper), Oxtail, Jerk Chicken, Rice and Peas, and Steamed Cabbage! The oxtail! Did I say the oxtail? The oxtail was finger licking good and fell off the bone!

We appreciate Chef Garfield Salmon and his Wife Shereen Salmon for their expertise. They left no stone unturned and the Smith family was well pleased and well fed!

Wow. Wow. Wow! When walking in, you get zapped with peace & 100% positive vibes. It is clean, quaint ans qute!! The owners are welcoming, friendly and treat you like family. Husband and wife are a dynamic duo. The chef has 20+years experience in culinary. Sheree*(spell check) really is one of a kind pepple . Ordered: -Short ribs(so tender, juicy, sweet and melts in your mouth) -Curry chicken roti(was well loaded with chicken peas, cabbage and perfect tasty curriness) this could feed 3-4 servings) -Jerk Chicken Mac & cheese(OM double G!! - cheesy saucy shells blended with slivers of jerk chicken. So freakin good!) -Salmon platter( perfectly cooked and seasoned salmon with steamed vegetables and rice & peaas) They also make healthy natural meal beverages to target various ailments.
