If I could give this place 0 stars I definitely would. We've ordered takeout through them twice and both times were awful. The first time I ordered the French dip and the sandwich was flavorless, soggy, and overall lacking in taste and quality. Even worse they didn't even pack it with any au jus sauce for me to use for it which is the point of a French dip!
The second order was today and they screwed this one up just as badly. I ordered the turkey club and we specifically told them NO lettuce or tomato! But what do I discover when I open it up at home? It has BOTH. I tried initially to remove the unwanted lettuce and tomato, but with the way they constructed the sandwiches it became a frustrating mess and I ended up just giving up and throwing it all away. Waste of money and again another dinner ruined with this place and I'm done. Definitely the last time we're ordering from here.
I 100% don't recommend this place to anyone. The food is awful, overpriced for what you get (if you even get it properly) and their cooks and their employees can't get the orders correct. You're better off going to Wendy's - which is what we are doing right now as I'm typing this review. At least there they get my order right every time and the food quality...
Read moreNew favorite diner! I'm from Latham and don't go to Rotterdam hardly ever, so I was unaware of this absolute gem. To start, I ordered the famous hot dog with onions and chili, which arrived to my table just moments after ordering with our lovely waitress Jessica. Definitely in the top 5 hotdogs I've ever had, and certainly the best I've had in the capital region. My friend and I both ordered cheeseburgers, his with a side of fries, mine with macaroni salad. Usually when I get a large patty, I'm afraid it's gonna be a little tough (ordered medium well), but everything was on point. After we got our food, we got to have a nice chat with the Chef who has been working there for over 20 years and calls it home. As we were eating the absolute MOST DELICIOUS cheesecake - caramel apple flavor btw! - I've ever tasted (courtesy of Blue Rose Bake Shop on State St.), we even got to chat about the history of the business with Phil, whose Uncle Jimmy opened the diner back in 1967. I felt like I was on an episode of DDD. Great food, great people. I will be back, with...
Read moreI've eaten too many Broadway hot dogs over the course of my life. My dad used to bring them home along with brown paper bags stuffed with french fries and onion rings. I've had them countless times with my dad and brother before headed out to see a movie. Since I moved back to the area more than a decade ago, this place and the food have become a family tradition for my wife and my kids.
It's not fancy. It's perfectly a diner. The cooks will accept almost any ridiculous request you ask for and the waitresses will get to know your order if you come through often enough.
The hot dogs "with everything" are the go-to, but the turkey club will do nicely on a hot day. The burgers cook over an open flame, so you get the amazing smell before you even enter the building.
We've been getting takeout regularly since social distancing, but I can't wait until we're back to normal. I'm looking forward to spending a Saturday morning with my family, playing cards eating cheese fries in the best booth. It's the one by the window, closest...
