I've been wanting to try this place for a long time now, I'm talking at least a couple of years. I've always heard great things about their salads and subs. So I ordered a roast beef sub with some macaroni salad the other day. And I'm embarrassed to say that I never realized it was almost directly across the street from one of my favorite diners. I was always under the impression that it was further away from my hometown then I thought. I guess that was why it took me so long to get there. Anyway, like I said, I ordered a roast beef sub and some salad. I really do consider myself to be a sub sandwich connoisseur - I've tried Submarine sandwiches from here to about a 75 Mi radius , and almost all of the sub shops in between over the years. I honestly don't know what all the uproar is about. This review is not meant to be detrimental. The sub and the salad were fine - nothing wrong with either one of them. But I can get the same , and better, a couple of different places that come to mind, oven roasted roast beef at those places as well. I don't eat anything else on Subs. And to make another note, a couple dollars less expensive also. I probably won't go back because there are too many other comparable choices for less money, but I am...
Read moreI have to say this being My parents frequented this deli since opening. And I guess Iâll have to travel long distance for descent cold cuts since you were the last strong hold of Italian quality cold cuts. The service has deteriorated since Lucy left. It took 45 minutes for 2 cold cuts to be sliced and in a poor manner. Lucy could have 10 different orders done under 15 minutes and wrapped with care. Mine were just thrown on the paper not sliced thin enough after telling her. I asked for a cake slice of fontina cheese and instead I got 2 broken off pieces that were old. We asked for grated pecorino and Lucy always fresh grated it for us and asked it we wanted the bits too knowing mom used them. 2 premade bags were given to us. If I wanted old pre grated Iâd go to a market. The zeppole were less than desirable I found one raisin in mine. Generous. The lady that used to make them obviously isnât there anymore. Mom and I miss your parents Lucy and they definitely left the place in good hands with you but now forget it. Iâm sure the catered food and subs for those that donât make them at home are still good. But without you in the store it will never again live up to the standards you set. Saddened long...
Read moreBest for your Subs!! This little Italian place that sits on the corner of Broadway & Thirteenth in Schenectady cannot be Beat! The quality and amount of their meats that they put on their subs is just too much. The prices cannot be beat! The sub rolls seem homemade and not bulky so you don't fill up on bread like at other places. They put lettuce, tomato and onions on but don't stack it on heavy to make up for the lack of meats. There is so much meat on these subs you can practicality take some out and make another sandwich lol, literally. With their homemade, fresh ingredients and friendly staff, Capri sure knows how to take care of your needs. Perfect place for Subs and all your Italian product needs. They are also an Italian store where you can purchase all sorts of products from, jarred peppers, to homemade pasta, sauce, to their own take home lasagna in the freezer. What more could you ask for? So what can you loose? Give it a try, mark it in your calendar, and make a point to stop in and try something. You won't be disappointed...I...
