Shifty's Bar & Grill — Restaurant in City of Syracuse

Came here after doing a bit of reading on Google reviews. I can honestly say this was one of the best experiences I've ever had at a bar. Upon arrival my dad and I sat at a table. When the bartender Cathy ( maybe Kathy) learned that it was our first time there we were compelled to sit at the bar. We met some awesome people at the bar that made us feel like we'd been going there for years. The people sitting next to me told me about what flavor of wings to get the Franken-fatal they were even so kind as to give me a sample from their plate. I've never felt so welcome in any establishment. The wings themselves were absolutely the best I've had, and I've eaten wings in just about every wing joint in Buffalo. Neither Duff's, The Anchor Bar, nor Gabriel's Gate can compare. The barkeep recommended we eat the fried mushrooms which are not breaded until the ticket comes in were easily the best fried mushrooms I've ever had. I will most assuredly return for more wings and a burger which I saw being delivered and looked absolutely amazing. I will definitely be returning, Shifty's has definitely become one of my favorites, and that's only after eating one meal there. I look forward to many more meals and many more...

Love this place! The food is good, inexpensive, & u get tons of it. They carry every brand of beer u could ever want & they r always icy cold. Their daytime bartender Cathy is not only a great bartender, shes funny, sassy, & never forgets what u drink. After ur 2nd time there she'll have ur drinks ready b4 u get to the bar. Shiftys attracts people of all ages & walks of life who always seem to blend perfectly. The kitchen staff is always on the ball pushing out hot, tasty food quickly & accurately. It's been a Syracuse staple since 1969, has always been a fun, comfortable place, offers live music most nights, & in my many yrs of popping in when in the area I've never once felt unsafe or witnessed so much as an argument while there. I love the old, original bar back, tin ceilings, & the countless pictures of every musician u can think of covering most every inch of every wall. Shiftys is the greatest old-school bar in Syracuse! Friends and I have been going to places and rating their wings to find what we think are the best around Syracuse. Last night our stop was at Shifty's.

They had live music which was nice and the artist was very good for what we expected from the way the place looked. Downside was that there were too many speakers which makes the music way too loud and we could barely talk to the person next to us.

The wings were good but their dry rubs are extremely dry. We asked for a few orders to be extra saucy and there was barely any sauce covering most of the wing. The wings that did have enough sauce though we're really good.

Service was amazing for being busy. You have to order the food at the bar so we wondered if they remembered where we were seated and they brought all 156 wings to us with no issue!

I wich there was a 3.5 rating as I feel 3 is low but 4 is too high for our experience. If the wings were not so dry and lacking sauce I would raise the rating up...
