Golden's — Restaurant in City of Utica

My wife and I were passing through on a long drive and decided to stay the night in Utica. The next morning, we were starving and in need of good, practical food. Somehow, assisted by Google, we selected Golden’s Diner. This was a fabulous experience for both of us. The restaurant itself is eclectic yet very functional. A majority of the seats consists of bar stools—as befitting a diner. The work area behind the counter is small, but chef/owner Jeff Golden has honed his craft and his tools and equipment to provide a wide array of delicious offerings. We both went with some breakfast standards, and were overly satisfied with all aspects of the experience. Finally visited Golden's after seeing enough images of delicious looking food and specials every week. I was expecting to walk into a large, fancy diner, but was surprised to find the tiniest little corner diner I've ever been in. Small and comfortable with one dude working at the counter. The owner.

Jeff was friendly and impressive as a chef. Everything is prepared in plain site and the food and flavors are beyond anything I've had at another local diner. You'll have that "Oh this is my favorite place now" moment too I'm sure.

Price was so reasonable I had to double check to make sure I heard right. $20.80 for two breakfasts and coffees. I was sure it must've been $28.00, but nope.

These are the places I like to find. This little gem will not disappoint unless you want takeout, which they don’t have from what I’m told. Jeff is the owner, chef, prep guy, server and dishwasher all in one. I gave him 5 stars across the board including atmosphere. It might not be a 5 star restaurant atmosphere that you’re paying $100 a plate but it’s great for this little place. I had breakfast here and I’ll be going back later today for lunch. To many things that I have to try in the short two days I’m in town. The food was delicious and it was like my mom or day was in the kitchen cooking it for me. This is a must try.
