I was excited to try Roma’s tomato pie because so many people rave about it. I had to get a whole pie because no slices were available. Unfortunately, it was extremely disappointing and disgusting. The sauce had a VERY sour/bitter taste to it, that was also super sweet. Maybe like soured milk or beer that was sitting in the sun for hours. It’s difficult to explain. Either way, it was inedible. I took one bite and spit it out. I had 8 other people try it and they had the same reaction. My husband and son were the only ones brave enough to eat a whole piece (they hate to waste food) and regretted it 30 minutes later. Thank goodness for 2 bathrooms! Idk if I got an old tomato pie that went bad…or if this was normal. I cannot recommend this.

Just came back to the Catskills from a day in Utica, stopped here for Tomato pie, brought back a half sheet. Wow, I know I don't have anything to campare to..as locals do, but we absolutely loved this one. The dough wasn't to thick, cooked nicely through, and a crispy bottom. The sauce and cheese really came through, not sweet (hate sweet sauce) and the cheese was excellent. Love this one. Also bought some red pepper taralli, and a couple of pounds of provolone cheese sausage (I think they call this Sicilian sausage, my heritage also). I haven't had a good cheese sausage since Joe's pork store closed in Astoria NY where I grew up. It was the ideal..hopefully this one will be too. Looking forward!

Delicious as always. I grew up eating Roma’s tomato pie and missed so much. Finally was able to come back to visit Utica and had to pick me up their tomato pie (10$) and it was as good as I remembered. The sauce, crust and cheese combination is alway a hit. It just so simple but so damn delicious, how? Besides tomato pie, Roma also sells other goodies but unfortunately I wasn’t able to buy any because of my short time in Utica. Roma’s tomato pie is a staple and huge part of Utica. I hope they continue to thrive and do well.

Open, but wouldn't make sandwich. "Not ready yet" was the excuse given. But given that it's a deli, and the place is literally full of the products which a sandwich is made, my only conclusion is that the gentleman behind the counter didn't want to. Probably because I was wearing my Red Sox cap. Well. Too bad for them. I work 100 yards away and really like sandwiches. I've had them before, when purchased by a friend, and they are really good. It's a shame that someone would intentionally hurt their own business because of bigotry. What a bummer. They make a really good sandwich, and they have some really appealing products in their shop. But I don't go where any prejudice lives. And, I will never recommend this place, but that's because of my own...

I have been going to Roma's for years, since I was born and raised in Utica. By far the best tomato pie, with that being said I have been twice in the past few months and I am somewhat disappointed. The sauce is outstanding, the dough seems somewhat gooey making the tomato pie tasting like being undercooked. The crust used to be somewhat crunchy, don't know if recipe was changed or modified. I will try Roma's location and see if the tomato pie taste like the old days. On occasion I would purchase several boxes of tomato pie and bring them to Rochester where my friend owns an Italian deli, which is loves. Unfortunately I can know longer do that with the change in tomato pie. Appears I will venture to another establishment...
