We got takeout on a Saturday night a few weeks ago. I got the steak sandwich, my wife got the chicken riggies. I understand that weekends can be busy, but the wait was over an hour. We arrived and there was practically no people there, the place was not very clean either which was disappointing, as tables were not bussed and the floor looked as if it hadn’t been swept in days. I don’t see what the long wait was for. My steak sandwich was brutal. The (what is supposed to be) filet of beef was tough, chewy and and inedible. My roll was soggy as can be, and drenched with thick, slimy false butter and dredged in cheese. The fries were flavorless and as well, inedible and soggy. We have enjoyed chicken riggies from various restaurants across the greater Utica area. We have had some really bad experiences. However, these were shocking. The chicken was so dry that we couldn’t even eat a bite. The sauce was stagnant and clearly not fresh which was appalling. The peppers were not fresh either. The amount of spice in Chicken Riggies is supposed to be known, however these were so spicy that if you even smelled them you would immediately be sensitive. The pasta was absolutely cooked to hell, so overcooked that it was slimy. I was so disappointed because this place had very good potential. The staff was careless and clueless as well was the presumable owner lady who answered the phone rudely and didn’t get back to us as we were put on hold. If you decide to eat here, you are about as delusional as the chef, owner and staff. Tremendously bad experience and it would take a dark day in hell before I...
Read morewill never ever step foot inside of this establishment nor recommend any one i know to eat here. 11/17 my 2 girlfriends and i along with our 2 children decided we would take a break from life and sit down and enjoy a meal and catch up and the final result is THIS, for a grand total and tip we paid 217$ the chicken riggies where cold when we received them the waitress then took them back and slightly warmed them as soon as my girlfriend went to taste she started to pull a piece if hair from her fork, not being the color of any of our hair, AS THE WAITRESS WAS WALKING TO THE TABLE SHE SEEN THE WHOLE THING. SHE DIDNT OFFER NEW FOOD. next the chicken wings that where ordered left a foul taste in my other friends mouth she never touched them again. i ordered a meal to go way to soon, a steak sandwich with greens onions and hot peppers. the bottom of packaged container was filled with something moist ruining the bread to the sandwich, the steak was said to be well done and was bleeding. now you may ask why didn't we make a stink, that was simply do to the waitress, she looked worn to the ground all while being pregnant, she seemed very clueless although she did her best. overall it was a horrible experience. i have been throwing up since i pulled into my driveway. i am not sure what is going on in that kitchen or what needs to be going on but this...
Read moreI actually became a customer of Old School when I ordered a large tray of their "Greens" for a wedding reception last summer. They were great and I remembered that. So Old School was in the back of my mind the other day while out doing some shopping with the wife. It got to be dinner time and we were close, so, let's pay Old School a visit.
It was dinner time and good eateries tend to be crowded at these times. This visit was no exception. Seating was a little tight and it was a bit noisy, but we were promptly seated. This is offered more as commentary than serious criticism.
High points, service and food! The main reasons you go out, right? The ladies who waited on us were always wearing a smile and intended to please. Oh yes, we ordered greens as a starter and they were fantastic. Our entrees were quickly prepared and they were as good as the greens. Served portions are generous and prices are appropriate.
We'll do...
