A constitutional pizza crisis
Order: Large pineapple jalapeno pizza, onion rings, and jalapeno poppers, picked up and driven straight home and eaten immediately. Cost: $51
Pizza: very high quality ingredients, particularly the toppings. In the middle of the pie, the dough was thin and soggy. So soggy that I had to take the pizza out of the box with a spatula because it was falling apart. The edge of the crust was thicker but a bit under cooked on the inside. The crust was coated in way too much cornmeal, and even the parts that weren't soggy or undercooked were just not great. Maybe a lack of salt or not enough yeast or something else but it was very bland. The sauce was excellent. The cheese was okay. The toppings were fresh and flavorful. I ended up throwing more of the pizza away than eating it. Extremely disappointing for how expensive it was.
Jalapeno poppers: These were super mid, looked and tasted like they came from a frozen bag. Probably the best thing I had, but over priced and not good at all.
Onion rings: These were cooked well, they looked pretty, they had a good crunch to them, but the flavor was awful. I don't know if they put onion powder in the batter, or there was something wrong with the onions, or something, but the flavor of these were so bad I couldn't eat them and it was hard to get the taste out of my mouth the rest of the meal.
The ranch dressing: runny and waaaaaaaay too herby.
The atmosphere: loud. There was very loud up tempo electronic music playing. There's a single comfy loveseat by the window and everywhere else seemed like aesthetic but uncomfortable chairs. There were some miniature video game machines with pacman on them. There was sort of music picking system similar to a jukebox but not a jukebox. It was clean looking.
Service: the staff were friendly and polite, which is the only reason this review is...
Read moreWe were excited about this place because it is open by the same person who created Peppo Melo and Nosy Neighbor coffee both of which are excellent. However, on our first visit tonight we discovered that the "cocktails" are actually made with non-distilled alcohol. This should be disclosed on the menu, because basically they are wine-based cocktails. Very little alcohol, and pretty sweet. After that discovery we thought, well. It looks like the pizza will be great. I had seen pictures and it looked like bubbly, crispy crust and goodness on top. Unfortunately, the ingredients are very low quality as we noticed a frozen disc of dough, and huge bags. Pretty shredded industrial cheese. The pizzas look good, but are pretty tasteless. The sauce is on the sweet side with very little herbs or flavor. Eating the crust by itself reveals the processed nature of this food. They do have a good beer selection, and canned spritzers which are all the rage today, so if you're into that there still is a reason to go. However, I would skip the pizza and the mixed cocktails. Maybe their appetizers and sides are better, I do not know because we...
Read moreDISAPPOINTING - I was so excited to finally try this place out but ended up disappointed. Pizza was just “ok” nothing that will make you want to come back again. Appetizers were better than the pizza but still nothing more impressive than your frozen food aisle at the grocery store. There was only one server working both the floor and the bar. We ordered the bottom less drink special and she not once came back and asked us for our drink orders past the initial drink. We had to get up to the bar to order and wait for her to notice us to take our drink order. Then, after we decided we were literally getting no service, decided we were ordering our last drink and leaving, she announced that our 2hour drinking window was over when we had ordered our first drink one hour before then (I had a time stamped video of our first drink). We weren’t planning on ordering more drinks anyway since we were getting zero service but the fact that she was cutting our promo time in half bothered me. Our server was either busy and overwhelmed or just didn’t care to be attentive. Save your time and money, would...
