When you eat at McDonalds, you know what you're getting most of the time -- the food is predictable and the shake machine is probably already shut down by 4pm. Which is ironically the same time you get to the front of the line to order, y'know? However, Clarkesville McDonalds offered a pleasant surprise on a recent visit (I'm a life-long local and have eaten at this location since its opening years ago) while my cousin and I decided to go inside and eat. Our orders were taken by a young man named Nathan. Not only was Nathan a wonderfully polite, friendly, and respectful employee -- he also had such a positive attitude that it became contagious. Literally, putting us in better moods just by speaking with him. 96 degree weather makes anyone miserable, but Nathan diligently worked, doing many jobs while we were eating our food. I saw 4 people 'working the front' half of the restaurant, including a young manager on expo, working very hard and doing the best she was capable of with the staff on hand. Not sure what the other two were up to for the hour we were in the restaurant, honestly. But, I'm writing this review specifically about Nathan and to make sure the proprietor of this location and his management team are aware of how valuable of an employee they have in this young man: After he took our order, and took 3 other orders, he made sure that our order was to satisfaction as he delivered it. Then, he carried out 11 or 12 separate orders to the cars waiting in the drive-thru that had been asked to pull up and wait. In between having to go back and forth to every car waiting outside (they were ALL being told to pull forward...), he stopped to clean off the drink fountain area twice due to spillage and trash. (The other front half workers just watched as this was happening, clearly afraid of any kind of work in general. Of course, phones are MoRe iMpOrTaNt, duh......) After cleaning that area, he bussed off dirty tables -- going to find sani-rags and the proper bucket to do so instead of using the half 'water rags' most use. Then, he swept the trash overspill at the garbage bins by the door. He made sure to stop to check on two tables out of kindness because they were elderly and offered to refill their drinks for them and promptly did so. (Not even part of the job in general -- JUST A NICE GUY!) After we finished our meal and began to leave, I filled my drink again and made sure to speak to the young manager working hard at the expo line because I wanted her to know the commodity the restaurant has in this young man. She was glad for the kind words and as we left, I noticed Nathan - heading to the bathrooms with a mop and bucket to clean up something happening in there - smiling all the way - and he bid us farewell.
Normally, I don't write such specific reviews pertaining to a certain person at a restaurant instead of the food itself, but Nathan's hard working mindset and great work ethic is unmatched by any fast-food worker today. His kindness and great attitude radiated through to all the customers he spoke to and it was this young man that truly made my trip inside Clarkesville McDonalds a visit that stands out and leaves other visits pale in comparison. I hope he has the chance to read this review and that his managers and those above his job title all know that he deserves more than whatever he's being paid, because he does the work of three people. The two others 'working' in the front should be cut loose and give their pay to Nathan because he did their jobs too, plus some.
5 stars for Nathan his manager. 5 stars for pride in the job. 5 stars for great attitude. 5 stars for carrying the weight of others. 5 stars well...

Directly afterwards I ordered a large fry - From my app to run in and grab it. All door were locked. I called them and asked if someone could bring it to the door. They said no I could come around to the drive thru window. I was like should I just change it to curbside pickup? No you would just pull to the drive thru window. I walked around the building ( no one in the drive thru. ) Then asked for my fry. Feedback:
I will be submitting the survey too in the hopes this feedback helps. I could careless about the dollar saving. Clearly, showing you that this is attached to my payment method with the coupon and the absolute disrespectful manner/treatment of customers is absolutely unacceptable.

Read moreThe last time we came through the drive-thru we were told that next time we would be charged for an extra syrup. This to me is rude and makes me not want to come here. This happened a year or so ago when this McDonald's did not give any sauce for chicken mcnuggets. When I asked I was told the same thing for the sauce. I wasn't asking for extra, and I did ask with the original order. I did not come back for a long time. My first thoughts are: the management or ownership needs to take a trip to Chick-fil-A. They are so kind and make sure you have what you need. I realize you may be thinking Chic-Fil-A charges more, but McDonald's makes millions...an extra syrup or a pack of sauce is not going to hurt McDonald's wallets. I could see if you were asking for ten packs or so, but 1 or 2 should not bring an attitude that you are stealing or taking more than you should. This particular location seems to be extra sensitive to the sauce situation. I could go on, but this is taking a lot of my time. Clarkesville's food and drinks are good and the Christian music is especially surprising and nice! It's just when the crazy sauce stuff started, it gave and gives off an unwelcoming and uninvited feeling when you're here. So this leads to not wanting to come here, except for maybe drinks. Sincerely, an...
