We stayed in town and really didn't want to venture out, luckily Chunkis delivered to our hotel. First off the lady on the phone and the lady who dropped the food off at the hotel lobby were fantastic very friendly, excellent job. Now the food: Having been in the restaurant industry for 20 years I will very rarely give a bad review because I know how tough it is to stay afloat and relevant and thriving in any food business. I believe chunkis has the potential to be alot better. We ordered a house salad, large square pizza and a steak sandwich. First off the salad was just very unappetizing, iceberg lettuce and a few veg topping seemed to be thrown together without a care, the dressing was just so plain looking just looked oil, terrible, there were no herbs or anything in the dressing didn't even bother with the salad after one bite a waste of money there. The steak sandwich tasted as though the bread was buttered with butter-it fake butter, I know exactly this flavor when I taste it because it is a unhealthy manufactured industrial flavor. I have unfortunately used this product in establishments I have worked at. I would never choose this for myself or customers. I understand that butter and oil and running a restaurant is expensive but please never use these fake butter products, they are unhealthy and the flavor is all wrong. I ate the sandwich anyway it was at the very bottom as far as steak sandwiches go. I really do not want to beat these folks up at all. I appreciate and respect this restaurant I'm only writing this review in the hopes that they will look at this and realize that they could do better and maybe make some changes. The food biz is very competitive, customers have very discerning tastebuds, the business will benefit when they stop reevaluate and make improvements. On to the pizza: it could have been ten times better had they left it in the oven for at least 5 more minutes maybe ten. Maybe I should have asked for well done. The cheese was so not melted that I could make out the individual pieces of shredded mozzarella. I have worked at several pizza and Italian restaurants and the rule is that until you see the brown bubbles on the mozzarella it's not done yet, matter of fact the more brown the mozzarella gets the better it is always, before it's too burnt obviously. Anyway the potential is there I believe in Chunkis pizza I wish them the best and I hope they take this review to heart. Cook with your heart and hands also, love what you do, make it the best you possibly can and be proud of that. We would love to come back and have another pizza someday in the future, ...
Read moreI’ve been living here for the last 18 years and I’m truly amazed at how chunkis has such great reviews, I’m not sure if they pay for their reviews or most small town West Virginians haven’t had REAL good food before... We ordered a pepperoni pizza and a original calzone and it was $30 which is fair enough... we pick it up and the calzone is TINY for $14 and tastes absolutely terrible (for comparison you can get one 2.5x the size that is FAR better at Kings Pizza in rosebud for the same price) seriously like dog food. The “steak” they used was essentially ground beef pressed into sheets.... moving on to the pizza... small aswell, little to no sauce on it, and seriously about an inch and a half thick and extremely doughy... my old high school cafeteria made better pizza. Save yourself the trouble of ordering here and go to Little Caesars if you’re wanting cheap but effective pizza or Kings if you want good food reasonably priced, Vito’s is also good!...
Read moreHeather is extremely rude-We called in on new years at 9pm. We checked their Facebook and google, neither of which mentioned the early closing. She was cranky about how we ordered and in a snarky manner said “our fryers are also down” well you aren’t supposed to close until 2 am for 1. For 2 you could have started with that. Well because of my luck my card declined. I said I am sorry my card declined and that sucks and left. What else do you do? I just wanted a good dinner. Heather then calls and is RUDE she was a b-word. Things happen heather, be kind to people because you don’t know what they...
