Ritzy Lunch — Restaurant in Clarksburg

On my way home from Morgantown, I decided to stop in Clarksburg to grab some lunch. I stopped at Ritzy Lunch for some Hot Dogs....my favorites!! This little restaurant has been around for awhile!! Since 1933 they have been serving them up ..they lay claim to the Best Darn Hot Dogs in Town....so of course I had to go check them out!!

I went inside the little diner on the same block as an old theater...free street parking was found half a block down from their doorway in front of the theater.

Inside is like walking back in time. It's long and narrow with cook top grills and counter bar with stools on right and old wooden booths on left.. I ordered the Hot Dog lunch special for $8 which included 2 Hot Dogs with their consideration of everything, French Fries and a fountain Coca Cola

They consider Everything as Chili, Mustard and Onions...they don't put slaw on the Hot Dog and to keep you from ordering slaw on your dog...it's listed as a extra side for $5....crazy???? Yes I agree!!! The French fries were done good but I would not consider the Best Darn Hot Dogs in my books....not even top 20 on my list!!! But not overly bad, I just have high Hot...

I know this place has wonderful reviews so perhaps we just arrived on a bad day. Please keep that in mind. Our server admitted he was just helping out, so he was great considering it wasn't something he was accustomed to do. He had a very difficult time navigating so I felt very bad for him. Perhaps it was just an off day, but the food wasn't good. The hot dogs were cheap flavorless dogs. The sauce also had very little flavor. I had to add mustard to mine (from my purse) because there was so little flavor to everything. Even the slaw was lacking flavor. I did enjoy my fries. Out of the five people at our table, only I received my order as I placed it (again, not dude's usual job so I get it) and two of the five received extra food that wasn't ordered. We just sucked it up because they were busy and the elderly man was the only one waiting tables. I also understand inflation sucks, but hot dogs (especially cheap ones) are a cheap food. A total of five hot dogs, one order of fries, one BLT and one sandwich and two drinks came to over 40$. We did give them a try, but it is unlikely we...

Food is pretty good. I got the rueben. It was good but also tasted different from a rueben than I'm used to. More acidic? The fries were yummy. Now, they only take card if it's $10 or above. But, mine was 9.50 and they took it. That was very nice of them. The waitress seems very grumpy. But, maybe she was just in bad mood or had a bad day. The atmosphere was weird til a third guy showed up, and seemed very interested in if i was taken care of. I'm guessing the owner. So, i give the food a 4.5. Atmosphere more like a 3. They serve you, but don't expect smiles. Lol. I will go again to try...
