Hogan's — Restaurant in Clarkston

This was the first time I had been at Hogan's since the new owners took the reins and I am So happy I had a chance to go, not once, but twice. The atmosphere is great for spending time with friends and for hanging around and chatting with the keeper of the bar. 😃 The place is clean and the music is great and at a volume that allows rockin' out And having quality conversations with the friends across the table without having to yell or cup ears for assistance. The menu, if you want to have a snack or eat dinner has some small changes but healthy options that are delicious, and as we found out, if you or someone in your party Have dietary restrictions they will work with you to make sure you are able to find something nutritious and delicious. There is plenty of choice within the available menu. I am happy to report that they still make an incredible grilled cheese and I also tried the black bean Veggie burger and it was delicious. I couldn't finish my masterpiece but I got to enjoy it again at home for lunch today. Portions are generous and the most important thing : Food Obviously prepared with Love. Also, with regard to Covid-19 Craziness we are living through at the moment it is nice to be somewhere where we are cared for and is safe. This place is really disappointing unless you have low expectations. My husband and I have been here several times looking for a bar to make our new hangout. The food is mediocre bar food, but 2/4 times eating here I was sick afterward. Something is going on with the beer lines or fridge, because many of the draft beers we love tasted strange or flat when we had them at Hogan's (which makes the great selection not as appealing). Regardless of how busy they are, the staff always looks stressed and exhausted, and they are typically rude. We ordered from the bar once, then the next time we came in we were rudely told we could NOT order at the bar and must sit down for service (and the same person who spoke to us at the bar ran over to take our order - from one server to another, save yourself some steps and just get our order the first time you talk to us). The music is hit or miss, and sometimes there is a guy selling joints on the patio. We are 20% tippers, but never coming...

Exceptional. The owner is so kind, funny and genuine, and has an immeasurable sense and knowledge for service. I am always so excited to sit at the rail, not just for the impeccable service, but to watch the locals, and visitors alike, revel in everything this place has to offer. From the intentionally curated ambience, that's giving both inclusivity, and intention to the "dive bar aesthetic" to the well thought and executed menu that blows any of the local watering holes out of the water, you will not be disappointed. Incredible food and drink, great prices, awesome selection, and beautiful, caring service. This place can have a quiet start at opening hours but dont be fooled, they can really draw a crowd, but it's the kind of crowd you want to be a part...
