I read a lot of reviews before coming here for the first time this weekend and, even after seeing all the high marks and preparing myself to be more critical, I also have to give them five stars. Not for the same reasons I've read so many other people share, but other for reasons, equally important. Before I share those, though, let me detail the basics. First, it's a beautiful restaurant. They've obviously put a lot of effort into presenting an elegant, comfortable space. Its classic and home-style at the same time. We sat on the main floor but. I believe there is additional seating in a space below (there is a very cool stairwell descending to somewhere - next time I'll explore). Also, its huge! Any European restaurant would be envious of the space between the tables. The entrees were good but not spectacular; I wouldn't bring people here just to showcase the paragon of local cuisine. Don't get me wrong - it was very well made and presented ('can't overstate that) but, it was the kind of standard dishes you see in most fine dining establishments. The steak was good but slightly bland; the lamb was good but not overly memorable. The sauce was very good. Dessert - creme brulee - was also very good. The service needs some fine tuning. Its obviously a family business which is awesome, but the servers are too casual. Wine service was spot on. They were very pleasant and respectful but, as I've written in other reviews, you really don't want to hear phrases like "you still working on that?" ever used outside of a Denny's. Here's where it gets good: my steak was a bit sinewy which detracted from the overall experience. When the host asked how the meal was, I shared my experience and she both apologized and provided us dessert. That's great service. Finally, and this is the coolest thing of all, no one brought us our ticket before we were ready to leave. They didn't bring us the ticket and say something like "no rush, whenever you're ready" - they didn't bring it all! Not until we we asked for it. That's unheard of in the states and is one of the main reasons European restaurants are far superior to American eateries. Its possible it was a fluke but I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt. That's excellent service. I have every intention...
Read moreIt's sad when a restaurant makes you feel uncomfortable on a night you'd would like to remember with your wife. Short Story: Basically Saute on Sixth reminds of a restaurant that's trying to be 3 Star Michelin restaurant. It seams it really depends on the day if you get good service or not. BoJacks on Main will give you better service. Here is the long story: Called up three days in advance to get table reservations for the downstairs area ( a table for two, on Saturday, Sept, 16th 2017 ). What we got was the bars stools at the end of the bar next to the register ( this is a date night for me and my wife ). They never asked if I wanted a table on the phone so I assumed they would give me a good table. So when we got to the restaurant the-night-of they said that they would seat us at the end of the bar because those were the only seats... (hesitantly/irritatedly I said okay). So my wife and I sit down at the bar. We wait about 10 minutes to get our drinks. My wife ordered a Huckleberry Margarita (they forgot to put the triple sec in the drink it was very sour). I ordered their Cosmopolitan and it tasted pretty bland with a lot of bar sour. We waited around for 20 minutes to get a server to order some food (at this point we put $25 down on the table and left). We planed on getting a pasta dish. Their menu is very small and it hasn't been changed/updated since I was last there, which was 6 months ago, the experience was...
Read moreWas recommended by a local winery and they gave a very positive review, but I would not recommend. The service was below average. First mistake - our reservation was at 7:45, and they are ready to shut down at 8:45. They started carrying out cups/glasses in crates, they got out their Swiffer mop, and locking down the place as we were trying to enjoy our dinner. We were seated by the restrooms, so my only view was a door with an exit sign and the restrooms. I realize Covid-19 issues require restaurants to social distance the tables, but we could have easily sat at another place. It was cold downstairs, and we did not receive a lot of attention. Probably better upstairs. Our young waiter was nice, but never came back to refill water, never bothered to bring the salt/pepper and we had to ask for the anchovies for the Caesar’s salad twice. The special – scallops, were $34 and while they were done and I’m sure a special sauce was prepared – way too salty. I ate it, but I was not happy with the meal. My partner had a hamburger which was good – no complaints there. Conclusion: not...
