El Dorado Mexican Restaurant is located in the old Pizza Hut location next to Matthew's Nissan and Walmart on Highway 76 in Clarksville, Tennessee. While it seems there is a Chinese restaurant or Mexican restaurant every few feet in Clarksville, El Dorado is now my favorite Mexican restaurant. If in Nashville, try Los Palmas for the best Mexican food since El Chicos is no more.
Since El Dorado Mexican Restaurant occupies a newly renovated space, the restaurant was extremely clean as expected. I liked the interior design and choices. It is a smallish space with Dunkin Donuts occupying the other half of the building. The service was good but not great, which is somewhat understandable as El Dorado was newly opened when I visited.
Where El Dorado shines is their food quality and choices. First off, the obligatory chips were served warm, unlike most restaurants. In addition, the salsa was served cold as it should be with a faint kick of heat. Thoroughly enjoyed the chip and salsa. The menu was huge, offering the staples of Mexican Restaurants and including several rarely seen offerings. For what I tried on my first visit was the Chimichanga, which was deep fried correctly and as intended. I also tried the Alambres, a concoction of sautéed onions, bacon, shredded cheese, and steak. The onions were served sliced too large and needing a longer saute. It still was very good to my disbelief. One other thing, El Dorado serves Pacifico beer on tap or bottles. While this seems trivial, Pacifico is one of my two favorite beers. If you haven't tried it, give it a shot.
Mexican restaurants are like pizza places. Everyone has a favorite and think any other place besides their favorite sucks. If you haven't been, try El Dorado Mexican Restaurant. You may have a new favorite Mexican...
Read moreThis restaurant opened recently and this was my and my family's first time trying their food. I got three burritos to go. I was told 15 minutes before the order would be ready but I showed up 10 minutes in and they were already in the bag, ready to go. I asked the man who rang me up if they had marked which burrito was the steak burrito. Without a care in the world, he said, "no, they didn't." Okay.
Then I got to the house and opened up the containers. All three burritos were not wrapped correctly so the filling fell out trying to transfer them to plates. They were also ice cold and had so little flavor (while I get it that this was a to-go order and I couldn't expect piping-hot, I drove straight to the house and the burritos were all completely cold - no warmth at all). The cheese sauce was flavorless and too liquidy and they only provided one container of salsa for three orders. If you even want to call that salsa - it had no flavor and was mostly just liquid. Nothing about this first time try will bring me back here to try again.
One good thing to say, they do give you a lot of meat in the burritos. Too bad it tasted hardly seasoned and...
Read moreI’m a loyal customer of the original Pleasant View location. I came to the newer Clarksville location and was a little disappointed in the service, specifically at the bar. They apparently rotate or share who bartends and the service is not the same from person to person. The first server was very attentive and hospitable. The one who was switched in later was attentive to some, but not to me at all. She filled their drinks, asked if they needed anything and walked past me without acknowledging me. The first server saw this and brought me some more chips because she saw from a distance what was going on. I had to get up and get napkins from the server stand as well. There were only three people at the bar and two were together. More training is needed at the Clarksville location. I love the Pleasant View location and the service I get there, especially from Camilo is excellent. Advice to the owners-spend more time at the Clarksville location to ensure the service is as good as it is at the Pleasant...
