Good food, friendly service, great place to eat!

We grabbed both a quick dinner here, soup and sandwich that just hit the spot the day after Christmas, and then breakfast the following morning. They typically run daily specials in addition to their menu items. You can't go wrong with those specials! We had the same waitress at both seatings, and she was a favorite of the people I was with. But all the girls we met there were very pleasant, attentive, and forever handy with the coffee pot! 😊

I enjoyed a grilled ham & cheese on thick cut sourdough bread with a bowl of tomato bisque soup while my dining companions all had the spicy chicken corn chowder with various sandwiches. And even though it was the end of the day, our soups were all thick, hot and just loaded with ingredients! These were NOT the dregs at the bottom of the soup pot! You can also order their soups to take home too, in various sizes up to a quart. Trust me, we seriously gave thought about that for the spicy chicken corn chowder! Yes, it was that good! My grilled ham and cheese was also very good with just the right slot of ham topped with cheddar cheese and grilled to gooey perfection! Just the perfect mate for dipping into my fabulously thick and rich tomato bisque soup with chunks of tomatoes and a hint of basil. The spicy chicken corn chowder was loaded with chicken, corn, potatoes, sweet red peppers, onions, jalapenos in a smokey, spicy cream-based chowder. Both were excellent!

This place is known for their ice cream, so we had to check it out and we weren't disappointed at all! We all got sundaes and they were delicious! I got a hot fudge sundae that contained 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream with a generous amount of hot fudge, a large swirl of fresh whipped cream and a cherry on top. My father got a wet nut sundae (walnuts in syrup) over vanilla ice cream topped with whipped cream and a cherry... it must have been good since he didn't utter a word from the time it was placed in front of him, until after it was gone! My sister got the same hot fudge sundae as me, and her hubby got a strawberry sundae topped with whipped cream and a cherry...and they were both pretty quiet until desert was finish too. LOL! The vanilla ice cream was flecked with vanilla bean, the toppings were generous, fresh and tasty, and the whipped cream was real and fresh... no fake stuff here. I can't say anything about the cherry on top, as my sister ate them and seemed to enjoy them. (Unwritten rule in my family... she always gets the cherries. And the center piece of anything with an edge. 😉 It's just how we keep the peace, folks.)

Breakfast was hopping as the place was crazy busy, but our table of 4 was seated within 7 minutes after arrival. This meal was also a tasty treat, one started off with coffee all around. Various juices are available; orange juice and cranberry juice were ordered. I got their "omelet special" which was loaded with sweet peppers, onions, sausage, tomatoes and cheddar cheese served with your choice of bread and hash browns...all for $5.99. Please ask for onions if you like them in your hash browns, as they typically serve them without. The omelet was delicious and the plate was heaped with food. I didn't leave hungry! One of my dining companions chose to order the 2 pancakes with a side of ham menu item. Her pancakes were served a bit on the cool side, but she enjoyed them as they had a good flavor. But the ham side was quite large and was very good! The men both ordered 3 eggs over lightly, with hash browns & onions, one got marbled rye bread toasted, and the other English muffins toasted, and both got the sausage links which they both enjoyed. With the endless refills on coffee and the delicious breakfasts finished, we were all full and very satisfied when we left the restaurant!

The prices were very reasonable here and a children's menu is available. Handicap accessible and bathrooms are available onsite and are clean! I believe they do take reservations if you need to get in and out quickly during busy times...do...

Regretfully - you're better off choosing an-Udder restaurant :(((

This was probably one of the worst experiences my family, friends and I had dining at a place that we were actually excited to go to.

PROS Restaurant looks good both outside and in. Ample parking. Cozy (but don't get your hopes up) Menu is decent. Selection/taste of Ice Cream is good.

CONS The food was "Ok" at best. The energy from the staff is upsetting. The staff is obviously undertrained and has no customer-service skills.

NOTES: From the moment we entered, there wasn't a single smile, no warmth, no friendliness, no sense of humor....just robots who communicate with minimum words and little to no eye-contact.

Our waitress seemed nice but completely clueless outside of taking an order. She lacked warmth and kept communication at a minimum. What bothered me most was how she was distributing a tray of hot soups OVER my 6-year old's head instead of in between adults. Any waitress, manager or owner would know this is a lawsuit waiting to happen.

The cashier who took my check passed by me twice without looking up to at least acknowledge me. Place wasn't busy at all. She finally approaches, flicks a couple buttons on her screen and it was clear my visit was just a transaction.

The Ice Cream girl?? Probably the worst person to be serving patrons. Not ONE moment did she ever care to connect, let alone look at us. She made it feel as if we were bothering her and had a frown the ENTIRE TIME. Regardless of age, ice cream alone should be a joyful experience. All 7 of us (4 adults, 3 kids) went outside to eat our ice cream in confusion and dissatisfaction. I hate that our conversation revolved around how horrible this restaurants' service was.

RETURN RATING 1/10: We won't be returning and I blame the owners for not training or emphasizing the importance of having a pleasant, friendly staff to create a welcoming atmosphere for...

I love this place! It's super cute and classic in its feel and look. Lots of smaller tables but I know of larger groups who go here, too. We asked for a different table (we like booths) and were re-seated immediately. The place was busy but not crowded, and never unpleasantly loud. The lunch menu wasn't terribly extensive but it was PLENTY. (I often feel overwhelmed picking from a 5 page menu) They had an extensive soup list which I believe changes regularly. We were served by Jennifer and she was just fantastic: friendly and helpful and pleasant and precise. I had a special request for my meal and they fulfilled it perfectly. We all loved our food. All lunch sandwiches come with a side of potato chips and pickles and we all loved that they didn't over-do it with a mountain of chips. They have no kids menu (for lunch at least) but we had no problem using the adult menu. They make their own ice cream here and everybody LOVED it. Very creamy, very yummy. Not like the kind you usually get in the store. And they don't scrimp on the portions, either! (My 9 year old couldn't finish) Overall our experience was absolutely delightful and I highly recommend the place to anyone...

"A place the locals come" is how it was described to me. This place is cavernous; bigger than it looks from the outside. It was a little on the loud side, the way conversations echoed through the high ceilings. From the inside, it looks like a barn that was completely gutted, and then remodeled with hardwood floors, 3 foot partitions, and painted plaster walls, then decorated with old farm advertising and implements. I liked that I was able to get just one egg with my scrapple and home fries. The scrapple was some of the better tasting I've had, and the home fries were different in texture and flavor from other diners I've frequented. Prices were lower than diners in the Harrisburg region. It's a nondescript brown building with a small sign, so its easy to miss. I have driven that stretch of road maybe 40 times and didn't know it was a restaurant.

A friend invited me to join him here for breakfast while we were here for a leadership conference. The food was great, the serving was huge, and the price was low. I love the antique whimsical signs covering the walls in this old barn. I especially loved the old Hersey sign proclaiming their hot cocoa as a health drink. Those at my table spent some time trying to figure out what “golden cow” ice cream was. Turns out it was cookies and cream ice cream with peanut butter added. We also enjoying looking at the large collection of ice cream scoops. Definitely coming back here again.

This place was super neat! Very big barn like location with a large seating area. The food was great! Fantastic place for lunch or breakfast. There's a ton of selections on the sandwich and soup side and there were so many choices that sounded delicious. There are daily specials that you won't find if you look at the menu ahead of time and when we were there, every special sounded amazing! They make their own ice cream too. We didn't partake in that because we were so full, but the flavors that day were very intriguing. Would highly recommend going there!!
