Mainstay Tavern — Restaurant in Clearwater

We stay at the Sheraton Sand Key Resort this past weekend. While our overall stay was very enjoyable, our experience at this restaurant was terrible.

Our server Michelle was extremely inattentive. She was basically only around to take our order and bring the check. Our food and been delivered to us and we had completely finished it before she even came over to check and see if it was satisfactory. She forgot to bring my son's milk, that we had asked for when we ordered our meals, and she didn't being it until after we were done eating. At one point, i turned around to try to get her attention and she was using a stray to launch straw wrappers or something at the bartender. Meanwhile, we were still waiting for her to come back around.

The food was subpar. Not terrible, but not good either. The nachos we started with were okay but tastes like the chicken came from a can. The cheese for the pretzels was almost solid and had a gritty, hummus like texture, and the Sand Key Philly was okay. But the rolll was soggy and falling apart. All things we would have mentioned to our server had she been over to our table at all to check on us to see how everything came out.

One of the best servers that we have ever experienced. Randy was a top notch server that added some fun to our night. He was hustling all over the place and made our time enjoyable. It was fun to watch him kind of put on a show bouncing around to do his best to make sure all guest were being helped. We found out at the end that the bartender walked out on their shift and because of his hustle we didn't even notice. Food was good. Menu was a bit disappointing as far as options available for some pickier eaters in our party. A little too pricey for the options available but I was happy to pay it for the service...

Overall, not a bad spot for dinner. The pricing was a little high for drinks, and I was charged for a drink that I had already paid for to-go but came back to the bar with to order food. So note to self, finish any to-go drinks before ordering anything else and have them break down your ticket.

The calamari was really tasty and different than you would expect, and pricing was on point. The steak frites were adequately charred but could've used just a little more salt and pepper seasoning, but luckily it came with three dipping sauces. I thoroughly...
