The food was excellent here, enjoyed salmon nuggets, cabbage, chicken, and yam pudding a lot. The mac and cheese was nothing special but I’m not a Mac and cheese guy. Got some complementary cornbread that was extremely moist. What this place lacks most is a menu and some price transparency. Some quickly typed out sheet with some prices would really make choosing a meal easier. The menu on google is not accurate, which we found out upon arrival, and he no longer serves one of the things we were planning on getting when we chose this place. There apparently is not an accurate menu to be had. Then I thought since the online menu said 15$ for a special and he told me it comes with 2 sides, that our two specials with sides would cost 30, but he charged 37. I didn’t ask about it, but probably should have. Oh well. Would have been nice to get a pitcher to refill our waters with as well, is someone who is more on top of getting refills, or something like that. My wife used the bathroom and said it smelled so strongly of air freshener that she had to hold her breath the whole time. But to reiterate, the food was in contrast to the rest of the experience and was quite good. Definitely fresh, especially for...
Read moreIt's a No. I hate to say it because the owner/cook was super nice. But, we were the only customers. No one came in for the forty minutes we waited on our takeout. We were so hungry we stuck out the wait. Something is off based on what the reviews show. The only menu was written on a lighted marker board. No prices. Few items. Deep fried heavily breaded Whiting was too chewey, too salty. The catfish was same thing, but just a bit more palatable. The greens were off. Strange taste. Cornbread just okay. Yam pudding was the best of them, but still way too sweet and overall a pass as well. Unappealing environment. Again, we tried to ignore what we started to sense about this restaurant because of the five star reviews?! Maybe it has...
Read moreMy wife and I stopped for lunch and thoroughly enjoyed our meal; however, we dined in and although there are tables and booths it did not seem like they were really geared up for dine in customers. The dining room was dimly lit and I don’t think it was air conditioned. That being said the food was very good and Cookie, our host and cook, was delightfully. I had a Polish boy and fries and my wife had the catfish bites with Mac & cheese and yam pudding as sides. Everything was made from scratch, very well prepared and cooked just right. The Polish boy was made with real grilled Polish sausage. Everything was cooked to order so there is a little wait. My wife and I enjoy dining off the beaten path and we are glad we...
