I dislike that this restaurant is advertised as vegan, considering how every time I go in and ask anything about their vegan items none of the staff know anything. I've been to the place twice. The first time was with a friend for their Tuesday taco deal. Long story short, I'm vegan he's not and they placed our tacos in the same container leading to me mistakenly taking a bite of his fish taco. The owner came up and coached the person who took our order to separate them in the future, I assume. I decided to give them another try. I stopped in another time and ordered a salad and fries, along with a quesadilla. I asked about whether the cookies were vegan, was met with "uhhh, i don't think so". Once my order came out I asked what dressing was available for my salad, again, I was met with "uhh..", "umm.." "I think our vingerette". After a few moments I asked if they could look at the ingredients. FINALLY, they went to the back to ask someone and came back and said "we don't recommend it [the vingerette] because we can't be sure". So I went home with cold fries, and a dry salad. If you're vegetarian I would recommend, but not if you're vegan. They need to either hire or properly educate their staff the vegan...

They cool with the service but the food is trifling. I ordered a salmon Cobb salad it had mango, tomato, blue cheese, egg, bacon and the smallest piece of salmon for $8 talking about its 6oz. Not only was it missing ingredients it tasted horrible a salad. No seasoning on salmon. Then the Melrose drive pasta was dry. The protein which was very dry and overcooked was chicken which I thought it came with shrimp. The manager was nice but you could tell she had an attitude. After I waited damn near an hour for my food nobody asked if I wanted water offered me nothing then the manager say do you want a cookie because she don't give refunds I said no a drink will be cool. I got the peace tea and she gave me unsweetened tea with no peach taste. After the cashier in the front told me they do have sweet tea but have to make some the manager comes out and say we make unsweetened tea and add simple syrup which made no sense. She did make my shrimp on side but I was already over it. So no refund and food was not giving nothing. No taste at all. Overcooked and just horrible. I mean not to mention the smoothie but that's a whole nother story. THUMBS DOWN. All that money and I'm...

I went here today with my girlfriend. She ordered a hot pumpkin white chocolate mocha and I got an iced brown sugar cinnamon latte. Admittedly, the specials menu had a pumpkin white chocolate hot cocoa and she specially asked it to be made with coffee instead, so I can understand her drink order being misheard and made wrong. But I ordered a latte, which is universally understood to be espresso with milk. So I was incredibly disappointed to find that my $6, 16 oz drink was literally just spiced and sweetened milk. Not a drop of espresso to be found. I and my girlfriend both tasted it and were 100% sure that it was coffee-less. If I'd had more time I would've stopped back in and asked about it, but this just doesn't seem like the kind of thing that happens because the barista was having an "off day." We came here because we love the other local coffee shops like Blue Sky Brews, Phoenix, and Luna, so we were excited to check this place out, but I'm not sure we'll be returning any time soon. The food reviews seem positive, which is heartening, but my main message is that if you're going to charge that much for a coffee, make sure it...

I just paid $20 for 3 salmon street tacos and sweet potato fries. See picture. Never, ever again. Not sure how much salmon was served but it wasn't a lot. However, more importantly, the salmon was severely overcooked. Dry and tasteless. Very disappointing. $16, for 3 small tacos, is the same price for the salmon burger. I asked the order taker if the amount of salmon in the tacos was the same amount used in the burger, and she couldn't assure me that it was the same amount. She was unfazed by my concern. Eventually, a manager appeared. She also seem unfazed and uncaring. She told me that the amount of salmon used for the burger was the same as the tacos--4 ounces. Given how little salmon was actually in my tacos, I find her answer hard to believe. Bottom line is that the tacos were overcooked, over priced amd underwhelming. If I am going to spend $20 on lunch, I am confident that better price/value propositions exist. This was my second time patronizing KafeLA. However, it will probably be my last. It's not the $20 price point that bothers me. Rather it was that the food wasn't worth it, IMHO.
