Thai Elephant Restaurant — Restaurant in Cleveland

I have been a returning customer of Thai Elephant Restaurant for a long time now. Their food is pretty good. Up until today, I had nothing but good things to say about this place. Tonight, just hours after I had purchased my order, I tipped my leftovers directly from the take out container onto a plate of mine so I could reheat them. After already digging into my meal, I realized there was a BUG in my rice, which I had already been eating. I am super disgusted and disappointed considering the food is NOT cheap. I bought two of these dishes coming to a total of nearly $30 and to spend that much on rice and find a bug is absolutely horrifying and very disappointing. I will not be returning to this place which is quite sad after all the many times I have come to eat here. This restaurant was literally one of my favorite places in Cleveland to get fried rice and now they will never get my business again. Our first time back after a few years. So glad they are still there!!! A small space with no one but us dining in, but plenty of take-out going thru. Still serving great food that makes me do my happy food dance. Summer rolls are so refreshing! My son had Thai tea (YUM!), Dumplings and the Country Pad Thai with Crispy Chicken. I had Tom Yum Soup with Vegetables and and Yellow Curry with Vegetables. Everything had great flavor with right amount of spice. And the vegetables were cooked just right and plenty of them, with just a little crunch-perfect! Our server was on top of it and friendly, taking the to talk to us even though he was busy. It is a great treasure to have in our neighborhood. The only disappointment was that the menu has gotten much smaller since we were there last and miss some of the dishes that were cut, but that make choosing what to order a little easier. This place is a little dimly lit and from the outside looking in ... you're not so sure, but it's obvious they sell more take out than eating in these days I'm guessing. However it is clean and properly equipped in the most important place/s. The food we ordered was well prepared and generous portions, a little..but only a little bland on the sauce and flavor of all 3 dishes we ordered, the spring rolls and crab Rangoon were petite and absolutely delicious. Personally I felt our server was knowledgeable, just my guess that waiting on tables was not his first line of experience. We will certainly go there again.
