Get transported to the French countryside at Judith. Step inside (using the LEFT door) and you'll see that Lorain Ave's newest cafe hits just the right notes of vintage, warmth, and eclectic - a creative salon and wonderful repurposing of old architecture.
Finding your way here is a little confusing, but there's a small sign on the sidewalk indicating your goal. There's a small surface lot directly next to the compact, nondescript building as well as free street parking.
The Judith isn't very big, and she's glowing with grand opening energy right now so come early if you want to secure a table. There's plenty of booths, two window nooks, and a few small hightops to enjoy your coffee and a book all day at. Tables along the wall have access to a few scattered power outlets along the partially exposed brick.
The energy of the staff is glowing too. If you dine in, the staff will bring your order to you from the small kitchen. Pastries, snacks, and Onyx coffee products are available all day while the larger plates on the "Later" menu (with more to come!) are available starting around 10:30A. The coffee was delicious, as was the food, but a little pricey for the portion size. Ă la Paris perhaps. If you appreciate the quality of the ingredients and ambiance of The Judith, this doesn't detract from the experience. For purchase also are pre-packaged products like Ghia non-alcoholic beverages and small batch vinegar.
Being a well-loved 125 year old building, the one thing that might pose a problem for those with mobility issues is the bathroom located down a creaky flight of stairs. The basement is dark, the ceiling is pretty low (watch your heads tall friends!), and you'll likely have to bend your knees to reach the bathroom door handle, but the toilette is almost charming and exactly how you'd imagine a rustic, French cafe toilette to be - if you'd ever thought...
Read moreHad a chance to get here again, and loaded up on food and drink, this time for lunch. Tried the onion soup they had as a special, a croissant, and the roast beef / onion baguette. Best onion soup Iâve ever had, including that at French restaurants. It had some herbs in it that made it exceptionally good. Their baguette sandwich was excellent: made with roast beef & with the onions cooked similar to that in the soup special. Finished off the food fest with the chocolate mousse and a cappuccino. The people working there are exceptionally pleasant and the cafe has a comfortable, relaxing coffee house vibe. The Judith is also open into evening hours to enjoy their food along with wine and cocktails West Siders are fortunate to have this place, Juneberry, and Patron Saint to enjoy some well-made food by talented people. Spend your dough at these places to keep them open for us to enjoy for a long time. One note: The Judith has seating at the counter and tables for (guessing) 25 visitors. You might wanna call ahead to make sure your group can get a seat. I read some knuckleheadâs poor review earlier complaining she felt rushed when she tried to camp out for, guessing, hours, spending peanuts. Câmon folks, this is a business - not a freakinâ library. If youâre short on cash, wanna park yourself for hours for free, then go to the freakinâ library. Donât turn a cafe into your office or study room away from home; be mindful of the fact the owners need to make the income to keep the...
Read moreNestled in a cozy corner, The Judith Café is a delightful spot that perfectly marries a warm atmosphere with a diverse menu. As I sit here savoring a Banh Mi sandwich, I can confidently say this café has a lot to offer.
The Banh Mi itself is a masterpiece, featuring a perfect blend of flavors and textures. The crusty baguette is light yet sturdy, holding together a vibrant medley of fresh vegetables, flavorful protein, and a herbs de Provence aioli that adds just the right amount of creaminess. Each bite is a harmonious balance of crunch and flavor, making it a satisfying choice for any meal of the day.
The atmosphere feels distinctly like a charming French café, with chic decor and styling that transports you away from Cleveland. The rustic yet elegant interior, adorned with tasteful artwork and comfortable seating, creates an inviting ambiance that encourages you to linger a little longer. The staff is friendly and attentive, ensuring that your experience is enjoyable from the moment you walk in.
Beyond the Banh Mi, the menu features a variety of enticing options, from open face toast offerings with âjammy eggsâ (yum!) to refreshing salads and baked goods. Whether youâre here for a quick bite or a leisurely brunch, The Judith caters to all tastes and preferences.
In conclusion, The Judith is a gem worth visiting. With its delectable food, inviting atmosphere, and friendly service, itâs a perfect spot to satisfy your cravings. I highly recommend trying the Banh Mi if you...
