This was my favorite brunch restaurant until Saturday, April 15, 2023
I came in for brunch at 11:35 am. I told them I needed a table for three. I sat at a table and read a book because my friends told me they would be 15 minutes late. At 11:45 am, the lady who takes orders at the register came to my table and said
âExcuse me, sir, but do you plan on spending any money at this establishment?
I replied, âYes, Iâm just waiting on my friends, who should be walking in at any minute.
She said, âDo you want to buy a coffee or something at least because we are about to get busy and we will need all our seats here? â
I said, âYeah, I come here a lot, but Iâll just come and order my food.â
As soon as I get up, my friends walk through the door. We ordered and enjoyed our food.
I want to note that most customers sat outside, so inside never got busy to where there was no seating.
She made me extremely uncomfortable. After eating, I thought are we sitting here too long?
I actually understand where she was coming from, but I think she jumped the gun. She should have waited a bit longer. Waiting on a friend for 10 to 15 minutes isnât enough to determine if someone is sitting around. Maybe she thought I was homeless.
I used to talk this place up so much that I will no longer recommend this place, and as a top Google reviewer, I will take this off my list of too brunch places in Cleveland. I liked this place, the food was gold but nonetheless Iâll never visit again.
6/2020 Oh my goodness. We randomly stumbled upon this place. Itâs a short walk away from 25th street. The busyness died down a little, so I expected this place not to be great, but when we walked in, we instantly saw how beautiful it was with a gorgeous patio.
It was uniquely different, and I thought it was awesome. The food and drinks are different than the other places that serve brunch. This is probably the best brunch meal Iâve ever had. The food was so delicious. I was upset it was gone. I wanted to order it again. They had drinks Iâd never heard of, creating a sense of adventure.
I 100 percent recommend Heart of Gold. Itâll be great for a date or to take a group of...
Read moreHeart of Gold has so far been the best bite to eat in Cleveland since I moved here from the South. The atmosphere is trendy but laid back with good lighting and a cute small bar. I really loved the menu design, it is very obvious that even the smallest details of this restaurant have been thought out.
The overall menu has an interesting and cohesive direction that incorporates Southern and Italian food - which to me was very reminiscent of the kind of fare you'd find in a lunch spot in New Orleans - especially their Tiki drinks on offer.
The service was wonderful; everyone was kind, helpful, and seemed excited about the food.
We chose the Roman, the fried chicken sandwich, the waffle fries, and the onion rings with the house made ranch.
The Roman is a solid sandwich where you can taste every part mentioned in the menu description. I thought all of the ingredients played well together and reminded me a bit of a muffeletta.
The waffle fries were very good - I thought the everything seasoning was a very smart choice (the ridges in the fries hold the seasoning in place) and were perfect for dipping. The fry crispiness to fluffiness ratio was to me a perfect balance. My only complaint is that they tasted a little too much of oil.
The onion rings were very surprising to me. They are to this date the best onion rings I've ever had. The breading was perfectly crispy and the onion stayed in place upon biting it - which is typically my main issue with onion rings. The sauce drizzled on top paired well with the sweetness with the onion, and the horsey sauce added the right amount of heat.
The chicken sandwich was overall a good chicken sandwich. The bread and the maggi mayo punch above their weight and those alone make this a stand out. The chicken was crispy and perfectly cooked. I personally think the chicken itself could use a little more flavor, but again that is only my taste.
I can't wait to return to this restaurant and try the other items on the menu. Don't miss out...
Read moreCame here for a take out order, waited a good 30 mins for my order which was what I was told when I first phoned the order which isnât a problem. I got there about 10 mins later and was already expected to wait but when I paid for the food, I was told it would be done in 5-10 mins. 20 mins later, I didnât have the food so I went over to ask if they had an ETA on when it would be done (and the restaurant wasnât busy, otherwise I wouldâve just waited). The young lady in a red top had a really cold demeanor as if I was bothering her when I asked which was weird because I wasnât being confrontational, I just wanted to know when the food would be ready. Thatâs when the guy working there with long hair and shorts overheard and just kinda slammed the food down on the stand in front of me without saying a word, and the lady in the red top just said âThere you go.â not even a âHave a nice dayâ. I understand having bad days in food service and being annoyed with customers but I literally did nothing to them to behave towards me the way that they did. Just a really weird interaction. This will more than likely be my last time buying food from Heart of Gold, which sucks because I do...
