Update 11/04/2023
After noticing a remodel happening, figured give the place another try. While the staff is much more friendly and clean, they get my order right now, and the donuts are really fresh, the service is a little slow and the coffee seems to be watered down — hot or iced. There is still no ATM, but they gladly take card without hiding the credit card machine. As a result, I’ll increase my rating to 4 stars. Improve the coffee and you’ll get 5.
UPDATE 11/13/22
About 5 months after writing this, I used the drive thru here because I needed to get to work quickly and its near my house. No one else was on line. When I pulled up to the window, the clerk charges my card, but forces me to take a lap around the store before getting what I paid for, and even better, he forgets my coffee. This is pathetic. I’m done with the childish games at this location. I wish I was making this up. Read below for more pathetic games and screw ups.
ORIGINAL REVIEW
This restaurant used to provide good quality service until they changed up the management team. This location was fast and on-point. In fact, the manager Safi knew I lost my wallet in the store at the time once and asked me a week later if I found it. Unfortunately times have changed.
To start, they got my order wrong twice in the same week. First order was for a medium cake batter iced coffee, but I got a small black coffee instead. Two days later, I ordered a sausage egg and cheese on an everything bagel, but I got an plain bagel with cream cheese. Even better, the staff cannot comprehend as I literally had to say my order three times in a row extremely slowly like as if I am talking to a child. Finally, after going through that order, the manager refuses to charge my card at the register, despite the machine being visible this time and a hidden one that is fully functional, and forces me to use the self checkout machine and start from scratch, which brings me to my next point.
The staff have purposely hid the credit card pinpads from the counter register, saying the register is “cash only” due to “policy”. They would swipe my card under the register at first, but the last time I ordered inside, they refused and forced me to start from scratch. I suggested kindly that they at least post signs making aware of the change, but they never listened. Also to add, one of the said self checkout machines was also out of order and being serviced by the manager. Even worse, I couldn’t pay with cash because they removed the ATM which was there for at least 20 years without notice. When I confronted management, they hostilely said to me this was a 'corporate policy', and refused to respond when I informed him every other location in the Clifton area if not the State of NJ allows you to use a credit card at the counter register.
I wish this could be shorter or joking rn, but unfortunately I am not making this up. I feel the 1st graders at School 13 can get my order right and won’t play games like this.
I recommend visiting the Dunkin in the Styertowne Shopping Mall nearby. The team there will take care of you with no jokes, games, or...
Read moreThis location was already mediocre but lately it has been just horrible. Frozen center food, wrong orders, old sinage, dirty, completely ignored the indoor to-go system, long waits. Tonight I had the most frustrating experience yet. The employees (who often ignore the pickup line, yet don't place the to go orders in reach) let me stand there for 15 minutes only to tell me they don't have the item I paid for in stock (common there). I was told "chose something else", and when I declined and asked for a refund instead, I was told "no, we cant" and handed my receipt. I was actually speechless at first. The employees then ignored me questions and just pretended I wasnt standing there or talking to them, I have never been so frustrated in my life by an employee, anywhere. I ended up leaving without my money or meal because after 15 minutes of being ignored I was going to lose my patience.
OLD REVIEW BELOW: I'm usually a fan of whatever seasonal flavors are out at Dunkin Donuts. This happens to be the Dunkin closest to my house but I have never experienced " we don't have that right now" anywhere else. I am being generous if I say that half the time they don't have what I want to order. They can definitely use better management when it comes to their buying...
Read moreUpon a recent visit we stood at the register for several minutes while the two employees working there were preparing drinks for the drive-thru. Even when a gentleman walked up to the counter we said hi, we were not greeted nor even received eye contact. He appeared to go out of his way to ignore us. The woman who was working did eventually smile when we called to them to get service and eventually helped us and was polite enough.
Maybe there's no reason not to acknowledge a customer at the register. Would definitely not recommend coming in here.
Also if you have trouble with stairs, do not use the back entrance by the parking lot as you have to walk upstairs and then back down stairs to get to the counter. Only the front entrance is level with the counter. Such a bad design. Even simply putting a notice on the back door that would notify customers that might have trouble with stairs to use the front door instead would have been smart. I also think we met the zombie here that was mentioned in another review. 🤣
